That is exactly what I said to my hubbie. She reminds me of a Margaret Thatcher, except with an “Annie Get Your Gun” Americana kind of prairie feel.

Precisely.
And Amen!
I hope this time finds Lady Thatcher in good health (as well as
can be expected).
And that Lady Thatcher finds great pride and joy at Sarah
Palin's ascent.

The Republican base will now be highly energized.
Biden has become irrelevant.
Sarah’s “star power” may soon exceed Obama’s. She is Margaret Thatcher, Sarah Connor and Princess Diana, all in one package.
The election is now McCain’s to lose.

I missed the speech because I had to get to work. I’ll watch it when I get off later in the morning (I’m recording it). Its reads well, I’m assuming she delivered it well. This will be a very interesting election. I’m not a McCain fan, though I respect him. His pick of Palin for VP has me voting for him. Funny how that works.

This Reaganesque gem got me on my feet:
"But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed ... when the roar of the crowd fades away ... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot - what exactly is our opponent's plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet?..."
This so closely matched Reagan's ability to use humor to cut through the platitudes & rhetoric of his opponent to reveal the truth behind the facade.
This was brilliant!! She hit it out of the park!
To: Labour-Watch
She is going after the political class. Crooked union cops, crooked state legislators, crooked commissioners. Harvard educated suburban mayors should be worried.
I was almost in tears. It was the best speech I've ever heard. One thing not mentioned much is how smart she is. Her speech was strong on Republican themes, but it was smart and she really is smart.

Its so good to hear “HOPE” again at FReepers...it was getting kinda dreary there for a while.

>This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word “victory” except when he’s talking about his own campaign. But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed... when the roar of the crowd fades away... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot - what exactly is our opponent’s plan?<
>I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a “community organiser,” except that you have actual responsibilities. I might add that in small towns, we don’t quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren’t listening.<
Money.
The styrofoam columns slew me.
