I’ve been wondering about the intense and vile reactions to Gov. Palin, and what motivates them for leftist “feminists”.
I’m starting to think that, rather than the obvious political attacks that, let’s face it, boil down to the word “power”, this may have a lot more to do with the word “guilt”.

Not being a woman, I of course cannot relate on a personal basis to having an abortion. But I can’t help but think that people who have had abortions for the sake of “convenience”, particularly if they have been successful in a professional world such as journalism (and I don’t mean to pick out journalists alone, but simply as an example), may feel some sense of regret or guilt for this, especially since they are now being compared to Gov. Palin.

I have been amazed at the relatively high percentage of women who admitted in various surveys to having had an abortion for the sake of “convenience”.

Of course, given the anti-Christian bias of many of these people, the concept of “forgiveness” may be somewhat foreign as well.

One reason the hate her is that they reserve the right to say who the real women are, just as they reserve the right to say who the real blacks are, the real latinos are, the real native americans are.

They hate Sarah Palin for the same reason they tried to destroy Clarence Thomas: she represents an alternative that they cannot allow. Without women and blacks, the Dem party would be gone. Without the women vote, the Dem party would not win another election

To paraphrase a saying from the old West, I’m sure Sarah can out-shoot, out-drink, out-cuss, out-think and out-run Hillary! ;-)

I think Hillary wins two out of five of these contests. Hillary can out-cuss and out drink Sarah. Sarah wins the thinking, running and shooting contests and takes 3 out of five for an overall victory.

**It also created an opening for Palin herself to look calm, composed, competent, and funny in response.**

The left-wingnuts are really blessings us, aren’t they.

The Left's sanction on Palin's candidacy also enables homosexuals such as US Weekly publisher Jann Wenner to engage in cathartic episodes of misogyny.

**With the introduction of the Pill around 1960, things abruptly began to change. Fears of overpopulation legitimated a contraceptive ethic throughout middle-class society in North America, Europe, Japan, and the Soviet bloc. China, which discouraged contraception and welcomed population gains under Mao Zedong, flipped to the extreme of the One Child policy in 1979, shortly after pro-capitalist reformers took charge and fixed on strict population control as an integral and unquestioned part of the package of Western-style development.**

Here is the REAL reason the left hates Sarah Palin and the Republican families.

**he premise of this narrative is that for women to achieve dignity and self-fulfillment in modern society, they must distance themselves, not necessarily from men or marriage or childbearing, but from the kind of marriage in which a mother’s temptation to be with and enjoy several children becomes a synonym for holding women back and cheating them out of professional success.**

Bingo! And a family bump.

In order for the Left to “win” the ultimate argument, they have to be the ones to define all terms. Blacks are ONLY liberal blacks. Conservative blacks don’t exist, because to the left, they are self-loathing Uncle Toms and thus not “black.” Women who are not liberals are rejected under the left’s definitions of woman.

And someone let one of these smart, attractive, competent non-women into the public eye, showing everyone that the left’s definition of woman is wrong.

The left blogosphere and elite media have, for the moment, joined forces and become indistinguishable from each other, and from the supermarket tabloids
for the moment? Just now joined? Think again, partisan media shill.

"In sharp contrast to the yearlong restraint shown toward truthful reports about John Edwards's affair" -- IOW, barely talking about it, and then only as passing references to allegations. John Edwards cheated on his wife while she was fighting cancer -- and he was denying the affair, just as he's denying that he's the father of the child.

In sharp contrast to the yearlong restraint shown toward truthful reports about John Edwards's affair, bizarre rumors have been reported as news...

It's not just bizarre rumors but outright and obvious fabrications are being thrown out by the MSM and otherwise mainstream sources such as Alan Colmes effort to blame Palin's child's downs syndrome on her prenatal care even though that is physically impossible. No lie is too big or too outlandish and not a shred of restraint is to be seen. Even attacking a 17 year old who isn't running for any office and who is not a public figure is being rabidly attacked by the left who is completely devoid of any signs of morality.

I think the key to support from the left, or lack there of, is to possess a recognized grievance (hence my tagline) that fits into the “if-it-bleeds-it-leads” news ethic of the media. Governor Palin represents no form of self-pity or loathing of life that makes for a “juicy” story.

“**It also created an opening for Palin herself to look calm, composed, competent, and funny in response.**

The left-wingnuts are really blessings us, aren’t they.”

This quote (because of the word funny) reminded me of an excellent post from Jim Treacher’s blog that my brother shared with me yesterday:

OBAMA VS. SNOWMAMA

It occurs to me: If Obama’s experience in this presidential campaign is itself to be considered one of his qualifications for the Oval Office, what are we to make of his performance over the last few days? Is this an indication of how he deals with adversity? Because — and this may be unfair — it seems to me that over the next 4 years, the President of the United States will face much tougher challenges than watching a cute lady with glasses make fun of him on TV.

It seems like instead of picking a strategy and seeing if it works, the Obama camp is trying everything they can possibly think of, all at once. Which is one way of doing it, I suppose. And that’s putting aside the apparent epidemic of insanity in newsrooms all over the world.

Did you guys see Hancock? Remember when Will Smith just stood there while the train hit him, and it derailed all over the place? Sarah Palin’s kind of like that, except happier.

... Oh and ... Fantastic article IrishMike!! Thanks for posting it!

Excellent article.

Sums up very well all the reasons the rabid Leftists want her gone.
She stands to undermine about 50 % of their argument before opening her mouth.

This is an incredibly insightful article and I’m definitely putting a copy of this in my file for future reference.

The more I read and get an idea of what bloggers and people are saying — I have to thank FreeRepublic.com for this as it is an indispensable resource — the more I feel that Sarah Palin’s likely ascendancy to the Vice-Presidency and maybe eventually the Presidency will be a phenomenally transformational event in American social and cultural politics.

If McCain-Palin wins this November, I expect the left will detonate with with such unbound rage it will make Bush Derangement Syndrome look like a sniffle.

Like in mathematics, their movement has a value. Sarah Palin represents the inverse of that value. If she becomes the Vice-President, their movement is canceled out. The are cornered into a situation which for them means either continued existence or nullity.

Bingo.

They don't like to see a woman who looks happy with five children. It has been a Post-Abortion trigger for them. It flies in the face of everything liberal feminist propaganda has tried to push on Americans - the idea that having children is a terrible burden, prevents women from having careers, etc. With a new baby, a pregnant daughter, and little Piper waving to cameras, it's too much for them. The liberal women who have had abortions fly off into a rage.
