A new poll commissioned by KING 5 shows Republican John McCain gaining ground on Democrat Barack Obama in the state of Washington.
The SurveyUSA poll found that in an election today, it's Obama 49 percent, McCain 45 percent. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll four weeks ago - before both candidates had named their running mates - Obama is down 2 points; McCain is up 1.
And the McCain/Palin surge may be reflected in the race for governor as well.
With eight weeks to go, Survey USA polled likely voters and found Obamas double-digit lead in June has shrunk to only four percentage points.
Among likely female voters, Obama has lost ground and McCain has gained since he picked Sarah Palin last month.
For the sixth time in as many tracking polls, the rematch contest between Rossi and incumbent Democrat Christine Gregoire is inside of the SurveyUSA poll's margin of sampling error. But for the first time, Rossi is nominally ahead, 48 percent to 47 percent.
Among women, Gregoire had led by 24 points in May, 60 percent to 36 percent. In this new poll, the candidates are tied.

I was a Bob Barr voter until Palin came along. I live in MD and have long conceded that my vote just doesn't count here as the Dems could run a ham sandwich and 55% of the state would vote for it. So I always vote libertarian. Not this time. The Republicans are energized all of the sudden, and I think turnout will be fine - I feel I'm voting for something now instead of just voting against Obama. I know many lifelong Dems in MD/DE/NJ who say they can't vote for a guy like Obama. Anecdotal, yes, but these were the same people swearing John Kerry was a great man.
Pollsters also buy into this red/blue divide. The last Maryland poll on RCP is a month old. If we're seeing states like WA, OR, PA and MI suddenly as dead heats, I can't wait to see polls from ‘blue’ states we all assume can't be in play. I am not confident in it at this point, but a candidate like Obama is begging for an old-school trouncing. California went for Reagan and Bush I not too long ago. The Ayers, Wright and Rezko stuff isn't even in play yet.
It might be close, we all assume it's going to be close because of the last few elections. The Dems way overreached with a bi-racial Marxist-inspired inexperienced cartoon of a candidate - they may have broken the red/blue stalemate in exactly the opposite way they intended. Look for McCain to get 320+ EVs and don't be shocked if he gets 380+.
If he wants Sarah to campaign with him (which I think would be wonderful), he should lay off the stupid Obama ads. I drove by the electric billboard in Fife and he has one appealing to voters who are voting for Obama for change. The message isn’t R’s are for change, but vote for Obama and then vote for Rossi. I understand what he is trying to do and why, but I think he could be more subtle.

Given what the DNC shovels out, the place must be packed with flies...
Wonder how long before we can replace the MLK king
in the county seal with the Burger King?
update...
Still too close. The margin has to be big enough that not even King County can find enough votes to overturn it.
Except for my car I have seen NO cars with McCain, McCain/Palin bumper stickers. I did See one NOboma sticker, but thats it.
I have seen hundreds if not thousands of Obama stickers. I know I live in King County, but come on, its not all Blue.
If you don't know where to get stickers, send me a private message and I'll give you some links.
Wearing this shirt this next weekend at the Puyallup Fair.

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.

I was expecting this. And if McCain is only down by 4 in Washington, he’s got to be approaching even in Oregon.
Sarah Palin is going to have regional appeal here in the Northwest.
Also, I doubt we’ve seen the full bounce yet. State polls always lag national, and Scott Rasmussen said we probably won’t see all of the bounce for another week.
Excellent news in Washington state. I figured that Sarah Palin would be an asset in the Pacific Northwest.
Rossi needs to be reelected.
One of the threads had a rumor of Sarah visiting Washington State on Sept. 24th I think it was. I imagine at some point they’ll get more of a schedule out.
