The ABCs of Sarah Palin (Barf Alert)
Washington [Com] Post ^ | September. 12, 2008 | Howie Kurtz

Posted on 09/12/2008 9:35:03 AM PDT by Reagan Man

Anyone who said that Charlie Gibson might go easy on Sarah Palin might want to quickly delete those comments.

What the ABC newsman conducted yesterday was a serious, professional interview that went right at the heart of what we want and need to know about the governor: Could she be president? Does she understand the nuances of international affairs? Does she have a world view?

He was all business, respectful but persistent.

~snip~

Lots of conservative ridicule for this sentence in a Wendy Doniger piece on Palin for WP/Newsweek's On Faith blog:

"Her greatest hypocrisy is in her pretense that she is a woman."

Does Doniger know something I don't?

Thanks justiceseeker93. My coworker mentioned she’d seen it. Earlier in the year, during the Demwit primary duel, she appeared not to know that there was more than one political party.

Wow, she’s revolting. And of course, the partisan hacks currently ruining whatever was left of Newsweek’s reputation have been doing this (at least) post-Demwit convention, and can be expected to continue with their shrill shilling until McCain is elected in November.

Wendy Doniger

Originally trained as a dancer, Wendy Doniger completed her undergraduate work at Radcliffe College in 1962 and completed two doctoral degrees, at Harvard and Oxford Universities, specializing in Sanskrit and Indian studies (what is sometimes called Oriental studies). She has held teaching positions at Harvard, Oxford, the University of London, and UC Berkeley and has taught at the University of Chicago since 1978, where she is the Mircea Eliade Distinguished Service Professor of the History of Religions

...her general interest in such topics as gender, sexuality, and personal/social identity enables her to do comparative work in a wide range of historical periods and cultural settings, evident especially in her later works...

thanks.

“Even Palin’s critics should admit that, in terms of demeanor, she handled herself well for someone who three years ago was worried about the books in the Wasilla library. She projected confidence and was not openly rattled. “

That slam is Kurtz’s own. It is elitest coastal put downs of small town America, like that, which is sinking Obama.

Whoa! sorry. I gave you the url for this Kurtz article. I think I have conflated someone else with Kurtz. Too many journalists coming unhinged. This looks like the first time Howie has done so. Mind cramp on my part. Please ignore my post.

No apology needed. Kurtz is not terrible or the worst, but he is on the left side. Kurtz also has a show on CNN in addition to this regular column. He reviewed the media reaction to Palin and basically gave them a pass.

I was looking to hear more if you knew.

Compare and contrast this interview with his interview with Obambi, which pretty much went along the lines of, “How ya feelin’, Dude?”

Yep. The nature of this article, to me at least, reveals a serious sexist bent. I don't know if anyone saw the comments of Dee Dee Myers on a Fox roundtable. The other woman was a former Republican strategist I believe. Myers, a Clinton loyalist, was absolutely glowing regarding the Palin/Old Codger interview. It was the Republican woman who was less charitable. This really indicates the nature of many pro-Hillary supporters who are keying on the double-standard and sexist rantings of the media. Payback is oh so sweet for them.
