'What Makes People Think Having Someone Like Their Neighbor in the White House a Good Thing?'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/12/2008 11:27:03 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Sarah Palin is sending the MSM around the bend. On MSNBC this afternoon, Andrea Mitchell provided perhaps the most blatant example yet of an MSMer openly admitting she doesn't want Palin as VP. Mitchell, clearly frustrated by Palin's every-woman-appeal, complained: "Is that what we really want in our leaders? Do we want someone 'just like me?' I mean, I don't want someone like me because I know I'm not because I know I'm not prepared to be vice-president or president. What makes people think that having someone like their neigbhor be in the White House is a good thing?"

Mitchell's guest was Lisa Murkowski, Republican senator from Alaska. Mitchell began by trying to lure Murkowski into taking a swing at Palin for her comments about taking on the "good old boys." Palin defeated Murkowski's father Frank, then the sitting governor of Alaska, in the 2006 GOP gubernatorial primary.

MITCHELL: One of those good old boys was your father, Frank Murkowski. How does that make you feel?

Murkowski wouldn't bite, speaking graciously of a generational change in a young state. Mitchell tried again to use a daughter's loyalty to provoke Murkowski into taking a shot at Palin.

"No, Andrea thinks we need elists who are more god-like and can cure disease, calm the seas, and walk through walls. Regular normal human beings are so frail."

I think this whole Jesus/Obama angle just took a hard "180", as Rush just mentioned that Obama's "community organizer" mentor, Saul Alinsky, dedicated his book to the devil.

Seriously, this shows how stupid Andrea is but in my mind, more of what a wonderfully classy lady Murkowski’s daughter is. She took it all in and handed it right back, discounting all that Andrea said.

That’s republican women for you. Class. Period.

The MSM is resentful that it is no longer the gatekeeper of political fortunes, and this is especially important for the distaff side of the media and women politicans. Sarah is not beholden to them as John McCain once was and Obama now is. Becoming irrelevant not only to the general news-seeking public but also the politicians in Washington DC is a fate not to be countenanced.

Yeah, I read Corsi’s book where that comes out. Alinsky was the mentor of Obabma’s mentor and ComOrg boss, both dedicated Marxists.

Mitchell: "Is that what we really want in our leaders? Do we want someone 'just like me?' I mean, I don't want someone like me because I know I'm not because I know I'm not prepared to be vice-president or president.

Yet Andrea Mitchell and the rest of the biased liberal media are only too happy to tell the President and for that matter, all of the world, what they should be doing.

Well the way he talks, if my neighbor was in the White House he would've cleaned Bin Ladin's clock by now and have the National Guard on the Mexican border. Sounds good to me.

Let’s see, libs like Mitchell always seem to think having someone who thinks “just like me” in the WH is a great thing..... how else to account for the list of sordid, sleazy leftists who dominate Democrat tickets?

Andrea had quite (another) moment on Morning Joe (perhaps you missed it with a quick glance at the Today Show or others). They were talking about the McCain “disrespect” ad, and Mitchell said something about it being “not true” or words to that effect. Joe went right after her sating (paraphrasing) “Biden did call Sarah ‘good looking’ and Obama did indeed say that she lied.” Mitchell offered stunned silence in reply. It was brilliant, and one of the few times Joe was terrific.

Others probably have made, or will make, similar observations. However I have to say that I find it deeply troubling that the mainstream press-and many in our society-seem to be starting to hold the idea that the political class should be some sort of ‘elite’ class...and not the everyday citizens as envisioned by the founders.

Between that attitude, and the rise of the Kennedy, Clinton and Bush political “dynasties,” I really feel like some people in this nation want a ruling class.

"What makes people think that having someone like their neigbhor be in the White House is a good thing?"

I guess in Andrea's version of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington", Mr. Smith is a community organizer who learns the ropes of the local political machine, writes two books about himself, and attends Harvard.

I say this with all sincerity: I, and many people I know, including people in this forum, would make a better president than Barack Obama.

My former tagline:

“Democrats send their best people into politics. Republicans send those who have the time.”

a political reporter (even a partisan hacktress) should AT THE VERY LEAST be able to gracefully handle a balloon drop

what makes her employer think that her opinions are worth sharing is beyond me

A native of New York, Mitchell received a B.A. degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania where she currently serves as a Trustee, a member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Annenberg School Advisory Board.

..Is that the board that Bill Ayers chaired while receiving millions from Obama as part of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge??
