Democrats desert Barack Obama and turn towards the Republicans

Jessica Goral had pretty much made up her mind two weeks ago: she was going to vote for Barack Obama. Then John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his running-mate.

“She empowers a lot of women,” said Mrs Goral, a mother of two in Macomb County — a national bellwether in the battleground state of Michigan and an area rich in white, working-class swing voters who will play an important role in deciding the election in November.

“I like that she’s a brand new mother, and that she has the courage to stand behind her pregnant daughter. She relates to working women. For all of us who have children at home but have to go to work every day — she has given us a sense that we can still do it and can be an excellent mum,” she said. “Sarah Palin is a role model. She’s made me more likely to vote Republican.”

If Mr Obama should be in any doubt how gravely the vice-presidential nomination of the Governor of Alaska has imperilled his White House ambitions, then a day spent in Macomb County will make this clear: white women who voted for John Kerry in 2004 are suddenly deserting the Democratic Party.

I’m better senior citizens won’t vote for him after the smart-ass computer ad.

Anecdotally, I talk with a lot of senior citizens, and they have been heavily for McCain even before the computer ad. The only exceptions are the ususal lost causes--bullet voters we used to call them--old black people and old union people.

I just made a post on that on another thread. How many senior citizens don’t care to learn how to use an email or computer but feel they are just fine without it did he call idiots?

Yep. And Barry still throws like a girl. Can't he come up with a commercial like "Morning in America?" Nah!

He can’t be beaten hard enough for me, I want to see His Royal Arrogance so humiliated that he asks for his own cave in Afghanistan.

Does anyone think that if the election is very close again the Supremes will step in again and decide it, and probably for McCain/Palin?

Even the staid Brits are saying that Palin gives the GOP an advantage.

BTW, today's Rasmussen Tracking Poll had McCain up by 3 points, a recent high.

Technically speaking, the Supreme Court did not decide the 2000 election. They simply decided a procedural issue regarding how the recount was being performed (the Dems wanted to perform recounts only in Dem districts, and the Florida Supremes were going to let them). However, what decided the election was Bush's greater number of votes. Every recount ever done showed George W. Bush having more votes in Florida.
