NYT editor responds to McCain camp broadside

Michael Calderone:

NY Times executive editor Bill Keller responded, in an e-mail to Politico, to Steve Schmidt's contention that the paper is pulling for Obama, and that "it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization."

"The New York Times is committed to covering the candidates fully, fairly and aggressively. It's our job to ask hard questions, fact-check their statements and their advertising, examine their programs, positions, biographies and advisors. Candidates and their campaign operatives are not always comfortable with that level of scrutiny, but it's what our readers expect and deserve."

What an idiot. All he’s done now is focus attention. A dignified silence would have been more effective.

I knew they'd say that. I'm still waiting for their hard stories on Obama and his running mate!

The New York Times is bleeding subscriptions. There is a reason. I think it’s staff is too stupid to actually understand how offensive they have become. The nice thing is that within the next five to ten years, the New York Times will no longer exist.

Those who fail to listen, fail to improve and grow.

At least they can go out shilling for candidates that are so far outside the mainstream that they can’t win. They could have supported people who were rational and could win, but hey, isn’t it better to be fringe player and die.

The New York Times is committed to covering the candidates fully, fairly and aggressively. It's our job to ask hard questions, fact-check their statements and their advertising, examine their programs, positions, biographies and advisors.

They left out some words: "(unless the candidate is Barack Obama)".

“Candidates and their campaign operatives are not always comfortable with that level of scrutiny”

The most inexperienced POTUS nominee in a century seems very comfortable with that level of scrutiny. NONE.

He refuted nothing. A bland statement in response to a direct allegation.

Here, let me re-word his statement to reality:

"The New York Times is committed to covering the McCain-Palin ticket aggressively. It's our job to ask ludicrous and personal questions, fast-check their statements and their advertising, examine their programs, positions, biographies and advisors. The McCain-Palin ticket and their campaign operatives may not be comfortable with our level of slanted, biased, and subjective scrutiny, but it's what our liberal and leftists, slanted, biased, and subjective readers expect."

That is MUCH closer to the truth, but it is also of little consequence.

Because the more the MSM and DNC try to either smear, besmirch, or twist McCain's and Sarah Palin's words and experience, the more people all over the country will be drawn to her.

It's because of something the left and the elite cannot comprehend.

People like Sarah connect with everyday people. She is a mother who wanted to make a difference in her community and joined the PTA and it went from there. She didn't need an ivy league degree in Political Science, she didn't need a law degree, she didn’t need rich connections, she just needed honesty, integrity, her faith, and a desire to serve.

She didn't seek wealth, power, or high position...it just happened and that connects with most Americans of all stripes (outside of the leftists and elitists whom she threatens) who in their hearts want to try and help their communities and improve things for their kids.

As a result, Sarah Palin is shaking the Democratic leftist-liberal house to its foundation, and bringing it down. She and her family, their faith, their values, and their story represent the absolute refutation of all the tired old liberal mantras and victimology that they malignantly use to mentally, pshycologically, and financially enslave whole classes of people.

From women's rights, to family values, to gun rights, to abortion, to energy policy, to taxation, to envrionmentalism, and on and on...she is a wrecking ball to the leftist, liberal, socialist house.

SARAH PALIN TRUMPS OBAMA-BIDEN

There. Fixed it.
