McCain shakes off GOP's anti-immigration right [cold shoulder to Barletta of Hazleton]

SCRANTON, Pa. -- During the Republican primaries, John McCain delicately balanced his record of pushing for immigration reform with satisfying his party's new appetite for harsher restrictions. Now in a general election against an opponent who broadly shares his views on the issue, McCain is showing greater ease asserting his distance from the anti-immigration right.

I'd have been CIC if it weren't for those meddling Conservatives.

He will deport criminal illegals. I take him at his word.

Haha, you actually believe that a politician will do what he says...right now.

I believe they should do the proper Conservative thing.

That being said, McCain was elected to the office of the President. I would not advocate a situation where Congress would ask the VP what to do. I can’t see a situation where they would.

They should act properly adhering to conservative principles on their own. In that manner they could oppose the Presiden, as they should if he advocates leftist policy.

Agreed, but I’m afraid if I’ll write her in, they’ll count it as one for the slug. Maybe if I wrote it Palin/Jindal?

I’m a Barletta Republican, not a McCain RINO. This is 4, Norm.

#1, Appoint Andrew Cuomo, architect of the mortgage crisis, to replace Chris Cox.

#2, Wipe hands of coordinating Republican party efforts from the White House.

#3, Fast-track criminal invading hordes to citizenship (I gotta live next door to that $hit, Norm, do you ?)

#4, Snubbing our BEST Conservative shining star candidates for the next Congress all because they oppose shamnesty.

Why am I supposed to vote for McCain, again, Norm ? I think I’ll write in Palin for President/Barletta for VP.

I’m not convinced, by any means, that I want Sarah Palin for the future. Exactly how would she go about effectively securing our borders? How does she define amnesty and what’s her position on what to do with the 20-35 million illegal aliens? Does she support the CFR/Open Borders Lobby agenda for a North American Union?

Of course you’re not. You’re a nutBar disciple. You sit there complaining about Palin’s immigration record or lack thereof yet you support Bob Barr who is pretty much the same as McCain on the issue. What is your real purpose here.

1. He never said he would undeniably appoint Cuomo.

2. I have no problem with him shying away from Republican Party efforts coordinated from INSIDE the White House (which is owned by the taxpayers). His theme is Country First. Second, in an age of such technology I don’t think you really need to anymore.

3. There will be no fast track. McCain said borders secure first. I trust him.

4. You’re reading INTO articles to get that. There is no smoking gun to back it up. If Barletta is a conservative Republican opposed to amnesty then I look forward to electing him. However he has a double digit lead. He’ll do just fine.

John’s an American hero who wants your vote. Please give him it.

You may be foolish enough to trust him, but I don't.

John’s an American hero who wants your vote. Please give him it.

He's about as much of an American hero as Benedict Arnold. And frankly, I wouldn't vote for a Benedict Arnold.

And you have a problem with that...why?

After all, I'm just trying to emulate your American "hero" Juan McCain. /sarc

Well, if I really wanted to emulate him, I'd "cross the aisle" in November...however, I'm not that stupid.

I will, however, vote third-party.

I’ve no idea what you’re talking about. I don’t even know who Bob Barr is and so I’m certainly NOT supporting him.

“#2, Wipe hands of coordinating Republican party efforts from the White House.”

WTH? Eisenhower redux? That worked great. ‘56 lonely landslide. ‘58 *odomy.

Way to remind us what a fool you are John, buzzkill.

newsflash, the current rolling amnesty period is TEN YEARS in the united states before you can apply for hardship stay. THEN wait five years to apply for us citizenship.

mccain would eliminate this and go straight to the five years to citizenship.

THE OLD system was six years then five.

McCains own words not mine. It IS a fast track.

Remember McCain said amnesty is not amnesty.

ALSO keep in mind McCain supports the DREAM ACT AMNESTY program which made ALL CHILDREN REGARDLESS OF CITIZENSHIP anchor babies.

In fact Dream Act AMNESTY, per the statute at http://www.thomas.gov allows students UP TO THE AGE OF THIRTY to be the anchor babies for serial immigration.

McCain has ZERO credibility on imigration.
ZIP
NADA
not one iota.

He CLAIMS to be serious about securing the border? FINE buy some credibility and BULD THE PHYSICAL FENCE.
