A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos): 9-24-08

With all the news focused on the economy and the President’s speech tonight, you may have missed the big news from Iraq:

The country that was once “on the brink of civil war”,

The country that defeatist Democrats like Harry Reid wrote off as “lost”,

The country that Senator Joe Biden wanted to divide into three ethnic-based regions (video from September 8, 2008—Biden brags: “My plan to partition Iraq is working.”)

That same country UNITED PEACEFULLY today to overwhelmingly pass a Provincial Election Law that will allow new elections to take place between now and January 31, 2009. The law will also give Iraqis more freedom in choosing their representatives.

President Bush congratulated the Iraqi Parliament for reaching this milestone in becoming a self-sustained democracy (Transcript)

Today's action demonstrates the ability of Iraq's leaders to work together for the good of the Iraqi people and represents further progress on political reconciliation. I congratulate the members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives for coming together to pass this significant legislation.

In other news, President Bush discussed free trade with Western Hemisphere leaders today at the Council of the Americas in New York City. (Transcript) and met with President Tony Saca of El Salvador (Transcript)

The President returned to the White House this afternoon where he will deliver a televised statement on the economy tonight at 9pm EST.

Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Gov. Sarah Palin was also in New York City today meeting with the leaders of Iraq, Pakistan, India and the Ukraine.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

I agree her hair is the fashion at present long and occasionally part or all put up in a non uniform manner. The more professional look that maybe to some seem more appropriate for a VP candidate is not the current fashion and therefore maybe she or her handlers deem that fashion at this point is more appealing to the voters and makes her identify more with them.

LOL!! Is this store Whole Foods?

LOLOLOL No, it was just the regular grocery store, Dominick's. They are part of Safeway. I only go to Whole Foods for fruit and yummy baked goods. Believe it or not, during the last election there were tons of Bush bumper stickers on cars in the Whole Foods parking lot. I still see some now and then and a few McCain stickers. I heard Rush reading that note on the air. Some people have such nerve.

I was next to a woman about a month ago who was doing her weekly shopping there and it was...get ready for it...$319!! She had a normal amount of food, about 5-6 bags.

I think you're right. The right will see her and hear the content of her words, and the left and young will give her more of their attention if she looks appropriate for the times.

Glen Campbell's mugshot is hysterical, though!

And put all four on the same line: Chris Robinson, Clapton, Eddie, deranged Glen Campbell--LOL!!

I had an idea for another one, but it would be really complex ... I might keep it to myself for now. If I could pull it off, it would be even better than Glen Campbell (but very similar :)

Ha! I’d commented on her jackets before I read your post. She truly is very stylish, without being flashy. I love that pink jacket from the first photos of her on this thread. Yeah, certainly NOT a hick, that’s for sure!

Gosh! Glad to have seen the sidebar! FR has been so hinky today that I feel lucky to be anywhere tonight!

Thanks for opening Sanity Island for us this evening! The photos of the day were great. The president has SO much on his plate, he just looks whipped.

Good to see Sarah becoming more comfortable...as if she is ever UNcomfortable...with heads of state. She is such an asset to this campaign!

She would look fabulous in ratty jeans and a faded plaid
flannel shirt that she’d borrowed from Todd!

She’s just fabulous...period! LOL!

Rush was talking about Whole Foods today...

Our #2 son lives in Austin. He calls Whole Foods, "Whole Paycheck"! He's really missing the Trader Joe's we have here.
