A St. Louis television station reports — their words — "The Barack Obama campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign."
Prosecutors and sheriffs from across Missouri are joining "The Barack Obama Truth Squad."
They mention Jennifer Joyce, St. Louis Circuit Attorney and Bob McCullough, prosecutor for St. Louis County in Missouri.
The reporter says, "They will be reminding voters that Barack Obama is a Christian who wants to cut taxes for anyone making less than $250,000 a year."
While the report never quite comes out and says that anyone running an ad saying those things would be subject to prosecution, that certainly is the message implied.
Not all things that are wrong are illegal. Saying that Barack Obama is a Muslim is wrong, but it does not warrant prosecution by the state.
I would cite Jonah Goldberg's Liberal Fascism, but an angry mob just took my copy to their book-burning...

Is there any suggestion about what law would be violated by such ads? Also, would people who put out false or misleading ads or news reports about McCain also be subject to prosecution? I find it hard to believe that these people are serious. On second thought, maybe I can believe it.
Here in WA, the democrat party waited until the overseas ballots to troops were sent, then filed a petition to have them all declared illegal because the RAT Governor's opponent listed himself at GOP, rather than R.
A judge dismissed it today. But it is unbelievable that they would have the gall. Of Course the papers say nothing. 4 years ago the election was stolen from Dino Rossi by this same RAT woman and her D party auditors in Seattle. What Obama and some of his supporters in Missouri are doing is an outrage. All the policemen in Missouri who are in on this should be fired and stripped of their badges, uniforms, police cars, pay, health insurance, paid vacations, sick leave, and retirement benefits. In other words, send them home with nothing. As for the prosecutors in Missouri who are part of this “truth squad,” they should be thrown out on their ears come election time. Sue them for libel and slander against any conservative who dares to tell the truth about Obama.
Good, lets take it to court, and have Obama present evidence under oath, that he was NEVER a muslim, even when he went by the name, “Barry Soetoro”. Lets make him prove how he travelled to Pakistan in 1981, when there was a travel ban, and no one but Muslims were allowed into the country!
