ALL THE elements were present: the individual stories told by real people of their situations and hardships, the packed-to-the rafters crowd, the crowd's chanting of key phrases and names, the action on the spot of texting and phoning to show instant support and commitment to jump into the political battle, the rallying selections of music, the setting of the agenda by the power people. The Democratic National Convention had all the elements of the perfectly organized event, Saul Alinsky style.
Barack Obama's training in Chicago by the great community organizers is showing its effectiveness. It is an amazingly powerful format, and the method of my late father always works to get the message out and get the supporters on board. When executed meticulously and thoughtfully, it is a powerful strategy for initiating change and making it really happen. Obama learned his lesson well.
I am proud to see that my father's model for organizing is being applied successfully beyond local community organizing to affect the Democratic campaign in 2008. It is a fine tribute to Saul Alinsky as we approach his 100th birthday.

Stanley Kurtz was on F & F this morning- he noted that Obama continued shuffling money to Ayers education projects and that by uniform standards- none of the millions of dollars spent resulted in improved education for children.

Dammit, I don’t want to be “organized” by a commie Chicago blackliberationist slimeball. We are all perfectly capable of “organizing” our own lives without anybody’s help. Self-reliance, individualism, liberty and the spirit of freedom outweigh a million times over communal living with its shared misery.
There’s grassroots organizing- and then there’s Alinsky style organizing. They are not one and the same.
I wonder if Sonny boy is aware his dad dedicated his book, “Rules for Radicals”, to the devil.

The community organizing of mortgage lending worked so well. Obviously we should elect someone who helped push it along to bail out the economy? Go figure.

Long term lynch pin is to make them start showing exactly how money spent has improved the situation. Point to how much of the money went to line the pockets of organizers and how much to whatever the problems was which the money was meant to address. Mostly we allow the assumption that money will solve the problem. All they do is talk about money for this program and that one. They worship money. We need to work hard to see if the money=solution assumption is accurate and demand accountability as well as show what other solutions that work better are available.
