NRA: Hillary Was Right, You Can't Trust Obama With Your Guns

WASHINGTON -- The National Rifle Association is turning to Hillary Rodham Clinton to bolster its criticism of Barack Obama's positions on gun issues.

The NRA's Political Victory Fund planned a national newspaper ad Thursday reviving a Clinton mailing that accused Obama of waffling on gun issues. Clinton's campaign sent the mailing when the New York senator was challenging Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination. It accuses Obama of changing his statements on gun issues to try to fit the audience he was addressing.

"Hillary was right: You can't trust Obama with your guns," says the NRA political action committee's ad, scheduled to run in USA Today. The PAC has spent at least $2.3 million on anti-Obama efforts, including more than $100,000 on the new USA Today ad.

The NRA ad includes a reproduction of Clinton's mailing, which mentioned Obama's comment at an April fundraiser in San Francisco that some small-town voters bitter about lost jobs "cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

"We believe that he's trying to fog the issue and confuse the voter, and he says he's for the Second Amendment while he votes to run the firearms industry and the Second Amendment out of business," Wayne LaPierre, the NRA's executive vice president, said in an interview Wednesday with The Associated Press.

It is truly amazing how, after only such a short period of time, Obamarama could turn Hillary, a wretched evil witch, into a somewhat more desirable candidate.

Here in eastern PA there is heavy rotation of an Obama radio ad saying Obama has always favored gun rights. It plays several times during Rush's show as well as on regular music stations.

The ad is of course a damn lie but I worry some of Obama's lies (another is an attack on McCain's health care) are getting traction here with little or no rebuttal from the McCain camp.

The guy in the ad must be nuts .Says he is an Obama supporter and a member of the NRA. He even sounds like a Canadian .

I wrote to NRA-ILA about these ads with the alleged NRA member supporting Obama. If you happen to catch the guy’s name who appears in the ads - also if he actually says he is from PA - - could you send it to the NRA. If he isn’t actually a member, that would be interesting. Also if he is they could offer him a REFUND!

Let’s be real. Other than the fact that she would’ve been tougher to beat, Hillary was always a better choice than Obama.

The NRA2008 Media Campaign has been giving Obama severe heartburn for a while now. Now we are sprinting to the finish.

Yesterday I received a solicitation in the mail to donate to this NRA program. Since (like many of you) I am constantly receiving such mail, I usually look it over and toss it. This time I donated fifty bucks.

This media blitz is kicking the Obamites right between the goalposts. Great work, NRA.

Not that I trust Hillary any further, but if she said it she was 100% correct.

Probably the same one we're getting here in NC. It features Ray Schoenke of AHSA (American Hunters and Shooters Assn.)

The ad claims that Obama and McCain both support the 2nd, so hey!, It's off the table. Then it goes on to bash McCain with a bunch of sport metaphors.

Dirty little secret is that AHSA is a front group, bought and paid for by the Brady Group.

What does it say about Obambi that he would use a false front gun control group to prove his allegience to the 2nd?

The NRA has finally endorsed McCain, officially. What took so long?

NRA-PVF Endorses John McCain and Sarah Palin for President and Vice-President

Thursday, October 09, 2008

Fairfax, VA. - The National Rifle Association’s (NRA) Executive Vice President, Wayne LaPierre, and NRA Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) Chairman Chris W. Cox are traveling to Pittsburgh, Pa., Springfield, Mo., Colorado Springs, Colo. and Reno, Nev. today for a series of press conferences endorsing Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin for President and Vice President respectively in the November 4 election.

“John McCain has more than two decades of pro-gun and pro-hunting votes in Congress. He has stood time and again to preserve our Second Amendment freedom and our rich hunting heritage,” said LaPierre. “Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin have earned the NRA-PVF’s endorsement and we will encourage gun owners, hunters and anyone who values freedom to vote McCain-Palin on November 4.”

“NRA members and gun owners will not allow Barack Obama to hide his radical record of opposition to our constitutional rights,” said Cox. “Obama has voted to make self-defense with a firearm in the home illegal, has voted to ban the most commonly owned hunting shotguns, has voted to ban commonly owned hunting ammunition, and has supported a 500% tax increase on guns and ammunition. We will remind voters every single time he pretends that his anti-gun record doesn’t exist.”

John McCain voted for the landmark Firearms Owners Protection Act and the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, opposed the failed Clinton Gun Ban, and voted against mandatory waiting periods, national gun registration, and bans on hunting ammunition. He also signed the historic congressional amicus brief in the case of Heller v. District of Columbia, holding that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms — a brief that Senator Obama refused to sign.

Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin is a hunter, gun owner and NRA Life Member. Gov. Palin has been a consistent and outspoken supporter of the constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen.

The current ad Obama is running features NRA life member Greg West. The ad says Obama has always supported gun rights and then it's about AIG and other failures. It starts pro gun but is mostly about blaming McCain on the economy.

The ad is kind of weird actually.

They want to make Obama be pro gun but have absolutely nothing to back up that claim so after making the claim it attacks McCain on the economy.

Obama, like all anti-gunners, lies. His notion of "respect" for gun rights involves finding a way to make denying them appear palatable. His running mate Biden is the biggest anti-gun zealot in the Senate.

If, God forbid, he reaches office we will see a re-enactment of an even more oppressive Assault Weapons Ban within 90 days, which will sail through a Democrat Congress with the usual lip service toward "nobody is talking about taking guns away." What they are talking about is seeing that nobody is ever able to purchase one. Legally.

Same basic theme in the Ray Shoenke (AHSA)ad.
