Report on fantastic Rally today in La Crosse WI (best speech of McCain this year)

Freeps,

I just watched the La Crosse Rally, and it was compelling enough that i wanted to start a new thread. Many thanks to bayliving for the original live thread!

This was the best speech in my opinion that McCain has given all year. It was detailed, mature, hard hitting, and very Presidential.

A new narrative seems to be developing that is really exciting: Underdog. McCain has shifted the message from "dont believe the polls" to "we are down like we always are but we are going to surprise everyone one more time".

Also, McCain introduced a new idea: to erase the requirements in IRA, 401k for seasoned citizens to be forced to withdraw their money. Excellent idea!!

The crowd was fired up, very intense, and I think we just might surge in WI!!

I hope you’re right...and BTW, I’ve been impressed with some of the Wisconsin folks urging McCain to take the fight to Obama. There is palpable anger across this country at the Democrats, and if McCain can articulate it and tap into it, he will win.

But here’s the real bottom line—and no slam against the good people of Wisconsin or Minnesota. Does McCain legitimately have a chance in your states? The pollsters say no, but I don’t believe their data reflects what I saw in those Wisconsin campaign appearances.

Herein lies the opportunity to do well by the electorate:

1. Suspend the required distribution at 72 to keep people from having to take their losses in this market.
2. Suspend capital gains tax indefinitely.

These are winning opportunities and a chance to really readjust the markets to reality. No one should be taxed on their capital gains. Ever. And forcing retirees to take losses in this market is not equitable (pun intended).

Go for it John!

You are absolutely right. He should be introduced by Mitt Romney. Every rally, Mitt Romney should be giving one or two points about Economy and introduce McCain. Those consultants in McCain camp, making 100 dollars/ hour should come out with some good ideas.

I was really disappointed that McCain didn't mention names this morning at the La Crosse Rally..the people were very pumped up............McCain's mentioning of Barney Frank, and Chris Dodd connected to Obama and Acorn would have raised the roof.

Mr. Bi-partisan shows up again. Can't solve the problem without pointing out what started it and that with Obama in Washington along with Dodd and Frank, it won't get solved. Period.

"raised the roof"

You're about the fourth or fifth Freeper I've observed, including yours truly, who was at the meeting. Too bad we can't have a coulee region Freeper club.

No one will hear this. The media doesn't cover him.

exactly... he's preaching to the choir at these rallies... where is this "fired-up" guy during the debates? so far, he's brought none of that... he has one more chance... i'm not holding my breath...

I agree. Unless he un-freakin-loads on Obambi at the next debate, it won't matter. Nothing in these stump speeches at these rallies is gaining any traction - the MSM is an accomplice in this, and the personal propaganda wing of the Obambi campaign. They are his "Ministry of Truth". They will insure nothing from these stump speeches at rallies gets out unless it's something that makes McCain look bad.

He just doesn't know what he's up against. And he doesn't seem to care. His campaign is going to go down in history as being worse than Dole's (and that's saying something). You cannot run old senators. They're too caught up in the whole "collegiality" thing and don't know how to fight.

Hope you guys had a good place to see McCain.

We let my 11 year daughter and her friend worm their way up to the front of the crowd so she could see better. It paid off for them. They got to shake McCain’s hands.

It was wonderful to be surrounded by college students at the rally who were pumped up for McCain. Even the college students outside wanted to confront the protestors. I just assumed most young people now a days were liberally brainwashed in school to love the democrats!

Who was it that said in the beginning of the speeches that our crowd could be just as good as the crowd at the townhall meeting yesterday??

It was interesting to see a lot of young people there. I don’t know how many were there out of curiosity or just on a school assignment, but it looks good.
