Murtha warns Obama on Afghanistan

Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, if elected, should avoid the same mistakes in Afghanistan that the Soviets made more than 20 years ago, U.S. Rep. John Murtha said today.

"I told Obama's people, 'Don't get your feet too far in Afghanistan,'" Murtha, an 18-term Democrat from Johnstown, said during a wide-ranging interview with the Tribune-Review.

Obama has said he wants to send more troops to Afghanistan.

Yep. In this article, Murtha continues to defend his comments about our Marines. From the article, he said that he doesn't think that his language then was "overly strident, although all the accused but one have been cleared. Officials conducting the investigation and the Naval Criminal Investigation Service 'came up with the same conclusion I did,' Murtha said."

The man has twisted this fact, that the Marines were charged, as proof of his righteousness in judging them murderers. He's just covering his ears and refusing to hear that they have been cleared of those charges. What a sick, nasty old man.

And, not only does he still hold our Marines in his contempt, he even trashes his own constituents in the interview:

"Obama's got a problem with the race issue in Western Pennsylvania," Murtha said, adding that it could knock up to 4 percentage points off his lead in the polls. He said he asks voters to look beyond Obama's skin color and "listen to what he's saying." Obama would be the first black U.S. president.

So, in his demented little mind, our Marines are murderers and western Pennsylvanians are racist rubes. Murtha is a pig.
