I’ll bet that almost of them in this list has done more in the military than Powell. Enough of him already. He doesn’t deserve the space that’s being wasted on him here.

BTW , not on that list is the endorsement of one Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf , one I would proudly boast about if I were McCain. In fact, drag him out of the mothballs for an appearance to counteract the Powell endorsement.

Wonder what position he was promised.

Secretary of Defense, most likely.

I've thought for a long time if Obammy gets elected we'll almost certainly get hit by mooselimb terrorists again sometime early next year. I truly hope Powell realizes what he just did in bringing that to fruition.....

Taguba is retired in Hawaii. Last I heard, he was kicking himself for not speaking out more forcefully about so-called ‘military atrocities.’ He is very popular in Hawaii among Kool-aid drinking Flips (Filipinos, it’s OK...it’s an endearing term to most...I won’t be offended if you use it). He is another product of America’s AFFIRMATIVE ACTION insanity. (Yes, don’t believe it, there are isolated cases of that, and it’s overwhelmingly occuring in the U.S. Army because of the way it develops/selects/trains its non-West Point educated officers).

Powell was always just a lawn general.

I can’t imagine why anyone would be shocked over this endorsement. Is there anyone who truly didn’t expect it?

Hear hear!

Et tu, Colin?

Caesar was stabbed, in the end, by one of his closest and most loyal friends, Brutus. And George Bush was betrayed throughout the course of the entire Fitzgerald inquisition by his one time friend and close confidant, Colin Powell, who knew all along the involvement of Richard Armitage, and chose to keep quiet. Loyalty runs between many extremes.

...snip...

With Colin Powell, as with Mr. Armitage, loyalty has finally gone the way of the Model-T. And sadly, Mr. Powell's damage will be enshrined forever by the left in what appears to be their longest running hit piece of modern times. Et tu, Colin?

That’s the last straw with Powell, he used his military career for his own personal gain.

I often wonder how many of our other “leaders” and journalists are getting $ from the Saudis.

The Republican Party has moved to the right the last several years?

Powell is either a liar or an idiot. It is disturbing to think that a former four star general is a bald faced liar but it is impossible that he's an idiot. There is no alternative explanation for a statement like that. Powell is a liar and his motivation must be racism.

I just posted elsewhere that a solid premise is an auspicious way to begin an argument. By the same token an outrageous fallacy is also a very telling way to begin an argument. Everything that follows will be pure garbage.

I know most people get scared / upset when they see images of people falling from the WTC. I say one less elitist New York liberal. They are the Obama-terrorists that will destroy this country.
Why feel bad for liberals who would pal around with that terrorist Obama? Have we all forgotten what we do with traitors in this country? Do you feel bad for all the terrorists killed in Iraq?
Obama will destroy this country. His supporters want to give him the power to do that. Therefore, it’s pretty clear what we need to do.

That is an unusually sick and uninformed POV. Thanks for sharing.

A lot of White Rockefeller Republicans have gone over to the Democrats over the years. But it's usually not the one's who've held high government positions.

As prominent a Republican official as Powell probably wouldn't jump ship under most circumstances. A Baker or Scowcroft probably wouldn't.

So race is most likely a factor in Powell's decision, but not the only one. If someone with Colin Powell's views had been a private citizen he might have jumped over before this, White or Black.

I have to add my dos centavos.

First of all, not breaking news. The surprise would be if he endorsed McCain. However, per my new tagline, he was a member of THIS Republican administration and when he resigned as SECSTATE, he commenced to “tell tales out of school.” Not a sign of good character in my opinion, and in the view of many others.

And, at this time, he could have kept his choice of candidates to himself.

He’s just another affirmative action nobody raised up to phony prominence. He and Scott McLellan belong in the Hall of Shame.

I think he’s an idiot who is lying to himself, so he doesn’t mind lying to others.

What a piece of work.

Oh, did you also see how he takes offense that the McCain campaign linked O’Bammy with Ayers? And, that we bring up the muslim connection?

Powell not only declared his vote, he’s running interference for the O’Bammy campaign. To each his own, eh?

Not only was Powell one of the top officials in THIS current R. administration, but Powell helped greatly in putting us in the current war in Iraq. SO, now we have the bizarre spectacle of one of the officials who helped to put us into Iraq turning on John McCain, who more than just about anyone has seen and urged the correct course for VICTORY there. Great way to support the troops, General Powell.

We have the bizarre spectacle of Powell endorsing Obama, the guy who more than just about anyone has sought to undermine and wreck the war effort. Now, just when victory is in our grasp, Powell supports the guy who wanted to wreck the war effort all along, and Powell undermines the guy who saw and boldly led the way to victory.

Truly a very strange record for a retired General and supposed man of honor. Gee, maybe race has something to do with it?

You nailed it, buddy. What a puke. And I don’t say that often, but I am livid at Colin’s huffery and puffery this morning.

One of their tacks is to be crybabies about how mean the McCain campaign is being to their boy, how McCain “belittles” O’Bammy.

Really, how can you belittle someone that arrogant?
