Republican John McCain continued a slow advance on Democrat Barack Obama in the race for president, moving back within three percentage points as the race begins to head down the stretch run, the latest Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking poll shows.
McCain now trails Obama by 2.7 points, down from the 3.9 point deficit he faced 24 hours earlier.
Seven-point-one percent of the likely voters surveyed said they remain undecided.
Obama lost five-tenths of a point from yesterday's report, while McCain gained another six-tenths of a point. It was the third consecutive day in which Obama's numbers slipped and McCain's numbers increased.
McCain has once again moved above 45% support overall, a mark he has not seen since the second day of daily tracking reports. Obama's slip under 48% support is the first time at that level in nearly a week. He now stands within one-tenth of a percent of where he stood when the Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby daily tracking began almost two weeks ago. McCain is within two-tenths of a percent of where he was when the tracking poll began.
During the 13 days of the tracking poll, Obama has led by as much as 6.2 points and as little as 1.9 points.
Except for a few hours of polling, this three-day rolling average of telephone polling now includes a sample taken entirely after the final presidential debate last Wednesday.
The tracking poll includes 1,211 likely voters across the country who were surveyed between Oct. 16-18, 2008, at the rate of about 400 per day. The survey, conducted using live telephone interviewers calling from Zogby's call center in Upstate New York, carries a margin of error of +/- 2.9 percentage points.

They are all using the same internals(which are ridiculous) and dont forget Mr.Braley. McCain is up by about 5.

My advice to McCain is don’t go on Larry King next week.
But I thought the race was over. Finito. In the bag. I guess the trial balloon of John Kerry for Secretary of State and Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense didn’t work too well. Talking about those two as cabinet officers is the usual pre-election BS. Neither one would get a cabinet job from Obama.
TIP is coming back our way. And Gallup still looks good under the LV model.
Barak is redistributing wealth.
ACORN is redistributing the vote.
JTP bump.
Just as the media is pronouncing the McCain campaign obituary.
He ain't dead yet!
BammyWhammy peaked early and is slowly slipping as McCain slowly gains.
I don’t really trust polls, but the general trending direction of the polls I do find of interest.
well one thing for sure, it won’t help powell’s standing among conservatives or liberals
Zogby is always correct . . . on election night.
The rest of the time Zogby has an agenda.
LOL!
I would agree. My guess is everyone else is leading hard toward Obama, so why not take the "it's close" ground in the polls? That will keep folks interested until the weekend before the election, at which point he can shift his polls along with the rest of the pollsters.
Please someone tell the McCain campaign to talk about getting the cart before the horse on “redistribution of wealth”. We need to FIRST talk about creation of wealth. What exactly “wealth”is and where it comes from. Redistributors are acting as if wealth is something that just “is” or something that springs up wild like kudzu. First make the PIE and THEN talk about how to divide the pieces of it. People must be pointed towards thinking about the nature of wealth or we are going to have nothing to distribute and it just won’t matter. Right now it is a magical imaginary pie....playing into the Obama “pie” story.
I’m beginning to wonder if all of the money Obamao is spending is being wasted, he has carpet bombed every swing state and so far the polls have not budged an inch.
Could be those ads are only keeping Obamao afloat, sooner or later, with continued non movement, a crash will come.
Save your keystrokes.
Say something to me.
I’ll actually listen.
Totally agree.
Over saturation.
You’re right. I hadn’t really thought of that — they guy is spending money like he’s printing it in the US Treasury, and vastly outspending McCain in the process, plus he has his buds in the Medjia literally throwing away their businesses to pound away for him, and yet, as you say, he just cannot gain in the polls.
I gotta think behind the scenes, there are a few brighter bean counters on the Bammy staff, and in the Treason Medjia newsrooms, who find that a bit worrying.
Sorry, but Hannity is just another Colmes, only he represents the right. I used to listen to him but now I cant because he is just another talking head, like all the rest.
