CHARLEROI, Pa. -- U.S. Rep. John Murtha is calling many of the people who put him in office "rednecks."
The news comes one week after Murtha claimed the area is racist, then apologized for that comment.
In explaining his comments about racism, Murtha told WTAE it's difficult for many in the area to change. Murtha said that just five to 10 years ago the entire area was "redneck."

If that were the case, Theodore, McCain and Palin would not be almost continually campaigning western PA and the rest of the state.
I saw a segment on Murtha once-he represents a fairly conservative district. When the reporter asked one guy why they keep voting for this liberal,he smiled and said”he gets us money.”At some point, maybe these people will put the country ahead of their own self-interest.
If you have contacts with the McCain campaign, PLEASE tell them to have McCain address Murtha’s comments, even if only briefly.
Rats can call Republicans Racist all they want, But it was and forever will be Republicans who fought a war against Democrats to free Slaves.
If any one should pay reparations to Blacks, it should start with the DNC
He’s too clever by half. He thinks he’s guilting his constituents into voting Obama, by putting out the word they are racist or redneck (with redneck being a perjorative) if they don’t. They follow him like lost sheep there, they’ve kept him in office 30 some years and the area has dropped into decay with job loss and poverty and all that, and still he holds his seat. Sheep.
Viewing the news channel from his area and hearing his constituents offer support, I'd say, yes, yes they are, at least for some.
What the Hell are the voters in Pennsylvania doing....why is this clown re-elected?
I was going to point out that most people I know are rednecks, and most readily admit the fact.
Then again, I wish the worst for Murtha, so hopefully they will take offense to him referencing them that way.
People in western PA will vote for Oprahs Obama and Murtha no matter how much the pair insults them, for they are hard-core Democrat there. They really believe the Democrat rhetoric.

The democrats will do well, but maybe not as well as expected or as well as Kerry and Gore did. Mr. Murtha has been involved in politics for a long period of time, and may well suspect that Obama’s support isn’t what it “should” be in this region.
Me? The McCain people probably have a restraining order out on me. :-) Nope, no contacts. Sorry. But I can’t imagine the ground team that’s in place ahead of each visit won’t prep McCain on the treasonous jerk’s comments.
I think we should all send him a letter thanking him for telling the truth and please could he keep up the pressure by telling us more. This guy is killing Obamas chances.
First the racist comment, now this. “Oops, he did it again!” was the first thing that came to mind.
; )
Might be the most patriotic thing he’s done since the Marines... ;)
Still a POS though.
thanks neverdem:

I was in Johnstown this past weekend and was reading an article in the local Tribune Democrat rag. They managed to dig up and handful of 20-somethings at the local mall to prop up Murtha, saying that “No, his comment wasn’t offensive”, and “Yes, they thought locals were racist...especially the older folk”. Murtha has no need for a PR person or communications staff with that kind of water-carrying.
got to have a brain to have a brain tumor.
Even if he (somehow) gets re-elected, watch for Murtha to have a mysterious “accident” shortly after Congress reconvenes.
