What would America look like after four years of an Obama administration?
"Hardship," "persecution" and "suffering" are among the prospects in a hypothetical letter from a "Christian from 2012" released today by evangelical leader James Dobson's political activist group Focus on the Family Action.
Titled "Letter from 2012 in Obamas America," the piece clearly targets the many evangelical Christians seeking "change," particularly the young, who could tip the election in favor of the Illinois Democrat . At the end of the letter, the fictional Christian laments that these people "simply did not realize Obama's far-left agenda would take away many of our freedoms as a nation, perhaps permanently," pointing to a new, liberal-majority Supreme Court unlikely to change for 30 more years.
"I get tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat," says the fictional writer. "Now in October of 2012, after seeing what has happened in the last four years," America is no longer "the land of the free and the home of the brave."
"Many of our freedoms have been taken away by a liberal Supreme Court and a majority of Democrats in both the House and the Senate, and hardly any brave citizen dares to resist the new government policies any more," the letter writer says.

Sometimes the only thing you can do is to immanentize the eschaton. I was thinking about doing that earlier in the cycle, but no way can I stand by and let the marxist Bx0 get in there.
Obama would declare himself El Presidente for life” like in some South American banana republic.
“And people are allowed to put forth other religious (Non-Christian) beliefs in school/public places?”
I can see it now...The Nine Satanic Statements sharing wall space with the Ten Commandments in some 3rd grade classroom in Montana...
Which is an appropriate restriction. Teachers should not use classroom time to preach their religion.
removal of 10 commandments monuments, removal of crosses from public places,
Unless these displays are being replaced by symbols of other religions, how is this persecution of Christians? At worst, it is just an evening of the public playing field by not allowing any rleigion to use public property for its religious displays.
students from reading the Bible during free reading time, suspending kids for praying before lunch.
I'm sure some overzealous administrator with a poor understanding of the Constitution thought that they were enforcing the law in such cases, but mistakes like this tend to get smacked down as soon as lawyers get involved.
You have to be WILLFULLY ignorant to not recognize the anti-Christian movement in America. The ACLU is at the forefront.
The anti-Christian movement is wasting its time. America is a highly Christian nation to such an extent that even most left-wing politicians have to at least make the right religious noises to get elected.
Good luck with that. Martial law will be about as effective as the President securing our borders, stopping criminal gangs from terrorizing those city folks, and printing money to help the economy.
Martial law indeed.
On your first point, teachers preach their religion of Secular Humanism all the time.
On the rest of your points - you’re of the opinion that because they aren’t all that successful, then it’s not a problem.
That’s like saying that suppression of free speech through the Fairness Doctrine isn’t a problem because Rush will go on satellite, or some court will rule against it.
Failure or Success has no relation to the real problem of the DESIRE TO OPPRESS.
What about the Sermon on the Mount? Or the Judaica? Thesis of Wittenburg? Book of Mormon? Picture of Sung Yung Moon? Book of Deuteoronomy has a whole bunch of rules, why not them? How about some Papal Bulls and encyclicals?
I think there are enough contra-flows in “our Judeo-Christian” heritage we wouldn’t have enough space for your Satanic principles, sorry.
Get ready for Sharia law under Obama. All Muslims demand it.
Gosh, we'd HAVE to do this, now, wouldn't we?
Otherwise, Congress would be Establishing a State Religion.
“Are you saying well be a communist/socialist country or well be literally destroyed by a belligerant attack of some sort?”
You don’t see the government turning on the people, violating the Constitution, and becoming a Communist country as an attack?
thanks truthandlife... it is the truth and I am glad that Citizen’s Link * a political arm of Focus* is telling it like it is!!!!!!
Wow, aren’t you afraid of “persecution” for your statement?
Of course, not.
So tell me how are Muslims oppressing your right to practice Christianity here in the US of A?
Please point to examples of teachers promoting secular humanism...
or is it that they just don’t promote your brand of Christianity?
Uh, Natchez Hawk, I was agreeing with your premise - that if you put up one brand of religion, you may end up putting them all up. I just chose one of the more extreme examples.
Personally, though I don’t have any problem with the idea of Intelligent Design being taught alongside Evolution or the teaching of the history of any religion, I don’t want the beliefs of any particular religion taught in public schools.
An old canard, which essentially means that some teachers take positions that you don't like. In any event, I'm all in favor of not letting any teacher preach their particular religion or ideology.
On the rest of your points - youre of the opinion that because they arent all that successful, then its not a problem.
That's exactly what I'm saying. Christians who feel they have been persecuted have access to the courts, their elected representatives and the media. Someone engaging in illegal discrimination against Christians will find themselves in legal hot water.
Thats like saying that suppression of free speech through the Fairness Doctrine isnt a problem because Rush will go on satellite, or some court will rule against it.
No, it isn't. I'm of the opinion that the Fairness Doctrine is an unconstitutional abridgement of free speech and should be smacked down in the courts the same way as a ban on students reading the Bible in their free time.
Failure or Success has no relation to the real problem of the DESIRE TO OPPRESS.
There are plenty of people in this country who want to oppress other groups. As long as they are prevented from doing so, their desire is more or less irrelevant.
I agree: Christian persecution WILL happen. If one believes (as I do) that what has been predicted in the Bible will come true, then eventually it will be ILLEGAL to be a Christian. Conviction of such a ‘crime’ will result in imprisonment, and eventally it will become a capital crime.
Mark me...this WILL happen. However, it is up to US to delay it’s happening....and we CAN. VOTE for McCain. Unless America is utterly destroyed during his term, as long as we can keep someone in the White House who will at least acknowledge God, we will have purchased “one more season of restraint”.
I was in grade school in the 50's. We prayed every morning and learned hymns in music class. I couldn't tell you what church any of my teachers were affiliated with. But I can tell you that we no longer are a Christian nation.
Unless these displays are being replaced by symbols of other religions, how is this persecution of Christians? At worst, it is just an evening of the public playing field by not allowing any rleigion to use public property for its religious displays.
The Founders must be spinning like tops.
Proposed Seal for the United States
On July 4, 1776, Congress appointed Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams "to bring in a device for a seal for the United States of America." Franklin's proposal adapted the biblical story of the parting of the Red Sea (left). Jefferson first recommended the "Children of Israel in the Wilderness, led by a Cloud by Day, and a Pillar of Fire by night. . . ." He then embraced Franklin's proposal and rewrote it (right). Jefferson's revision of Franklin's proposal was presented by the committee to Congress on August 20. Although not accepted these drafts reveal the religious temper of the Revolutionary period. Franklin and Jefferson were among the most theologically liberal of the Founders, yet they used biblical imagery for this important task.
The above is from the Library of Congress.
NO, sorry it came out wrong, I wasn’t trying to smart-off to you, I agree with your point.
My run on sentences are not very legible sometimes.
As I suspected... Google’s broke for you.
