Ok, FReepers, time to "turn to!" All hands on deck! Man your battle stations!!
Oct 24, 2008 | Jim Robinson

As reported on another thread:

"Major Garrett reports from Hawaii 10 minutes ago that David Axelrod the Campaign Manager for Barack Obama says as of this morning the campaign had a meeting in Chicago and according to internal numbers they have "a clear road to victory holding all Kerry states while picking up Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Nevada and Virginia with an excellent shot at Montana, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Indiana."

They are saying they will get to 400 EV's election night."

And I just heard through the grapevine yesterday that McCain-Palin are needing grassroots support in battleground states like Nevada, Montana, Ohio, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, etc.

Can you imagine conservative Republican states going for Obama? No, and neither can I. Obama has the money, the press and the resources. McCain-Palin has the grassroots. It's time for the grassroots to scramble to action!

Grassroots? That's us! Time for all Free Republic chapters and members to visit or call the closest McCain-Palin or Republican headquarters, grab some signs, man the phones, walk the precincts, join rallies, spread the word! Don't let Obama and ACORN steal the election!! Get in their faces!!

We did it in 2000 and 2004, we can do it again in 2008!!

Go to work FReepers and Lurkers!! Get out the VOTE!!

We are setting up a new website called, “The Obama Disaster.com” to highlight all of the horrible effects on our wonderful nation if Hussein actually gets elected. Please help us with links to info about the destructive impact on our country if he gets into the White House...

Me thinks you miss my point. I want Palin, NOT McCain.

On my way home tonight, I began to notice new McCain signs. These were different...white signs. They are Democrats for McCain signs. And a whole lot of them just put out. How long they will stay up remains to be seen but we aren’t the only ones out there pounding the pavement for McCain.

A MODEST SUGGESTION for THOSE WITH LIMITED TIME:

Go through your email contact list and think about who you might be able to reach-out to...

In the past, I have been loathe to contact friends, relatives and acquaintances with political messages/requests...

Generally, this is because, in contacting these folks I thought I would be either:

(A) Preaching to the choir...or

(B) Alienating people I basically liked who happened to view politics differently than I do.

Additionally, in the past, I have always thought — “listen both of the guys running for President are Americans, they both basically love this beautiful country and even if one is an idiot — we can survive — democracy isn't pretty but it works, we'll be OK. We've lived through worse — let's fight hard for our guy — but if we lose fair and square — so be it — we'll do it again in 4 years.

BUT THIS YEAR and THIS ELECTION ARE DIFFERENT.

Make NO MISTAKE — Obama is a real threat to our nation, our economy, and ultimately — even our freedom.

So back to my suggestion:

1. Collect all of the email addresses you have and create a distribution list or two... (I have one list that is basically a GOTV list for folks I know are kindred spirits and another list for folks I know who are either Independents or Democrats)
2. Draft appropriate letters/emails (customize if practical)
3. SHARE YOUR DRAFTS BY POSTING THEM ONLINE AT FREEREPUBLIC so that other Freepers can read them and perhaps borrow your best arguments for McCain/Palin
4. Start emailing — have a plan to email semi-regularly up until election day
5. POST PROGRESS REPORTS on FREEREPUBLIC to inspire and inform others.

You are in Virginia...it is people like you who we need right now to stand down on the personal pride issue and do something like standing up for your country. I am not a big McCain fan either...totally Palin for me as well...but you are in a VERY crucial state and we NEED your vote.

Don’t think about it...just do it. Way too much to lose otherwise. Take it from someone who used to live in Palm Beach County in 2000...it was one of my votes that helped Bush win and kept Gore and his insanity out of the White House.

Obama is thousands of times more dangerous than Gore.

Is that reason enough?

We’re in Southern California, and we are probably outnumbered here. But there are a good number of McCain/Palin supporters, enough even that they came out to campaign here to a filled stadium. And we are constantly meeting QUIET people who are freaking out about Obama and definitely voting McCain/Palin.

Your state will not have some huge number of libs and only ONE Republican. You really can do a lot. And where better than in the Belly of the Beast.

geez, when I vote there will be 3,ooo registered democrats against 4o registered republicans. That was my analogy to Custer.

I got the analogy. I was just trying, like all good political junkies, to spin the story to a favorable outcome. Maybe a better analogy would be the Spartans at Thermopylae.

Only we'll try not to leave you to die.

You wrote: “I’m having a very hard time reconciling the idea of voting for a faux conservative for President when there are real, honest to goodness conservatives running as 3rd party candidates. Sarah Palin is wonderful. It’s very unfortunate that she isn’t leading the ticket.”

I’ll tell you how I came to decide to enthusiastically support and vote for McCain/Palin. When Gov. Palin was named as the VP candidate the party had my vote locked up and a donation sent in as well. The honest-to-goodness conservative I was looking for in the election showed up and is now #2 on the Republican ticket. Early on I was a Duncan Hunter supporter who was going to refrain when I saw all the quasi-Republicans bouncing around as front-runner options.

BHO is a whole other candidate, one we’ve never seen the likes of in this country. Ever.

You run the Surviving Socialism ping list.... Please consider applying that thinking beyond the economy/current market madness/seemingly endless bailouts.

I think of how this country will be affected in a micro/macrocosm manner, but I’ll share some of my personal & practical reasonings. Please bear with me.

I don’t want to worship God our Lord or His son Jesus Christ in secret.

I don’t want my husband’s earnings (I’m a stay at home mom to 3, almost 4) taxed at an even higher rate than they currently are. I don’t believe the over/under $250K feint; I believe to “spread the wealth” we all will pay and those who benefit will be ones running the show.

I don’t want those taxes being used to pay for abortions from conception to birth thanks to 0bama/Boxer’s ‘Freedom of Choice Act (FoCA) which will overturn every single abortion restriction & law in the country including parental notification, informed consent, partial birth abortion, born alive medical care and “viability” limits.

I don’t want to be told I can no longer listen to Andrew Wilkow or Mark Levin or Rush or Laura Ingraham. Or post on the Free Republic.

I don’t want to fear for the freedom of my family because we wrote anti-0bama comments on this forum and other blogs and produced and shared truthful 0bama videos with everyone we could to keep him out.

I don’t want to fear for the lives of my family because murderers and sociopaths have the guns and I cannot.

I don’t want to have my little children being forced into BHO’s universal preschool system so they can be taught full and graphic and interactive sex education by the end of kindergarten.

I don’t want to have to teach my youngest children, in secret?, about a forgotten and forbidden document called The United States Constitution.

I don’t want to have the right to homeschool all of my children permanently taken away from me.

I don’t want to have my children taken away from me.

I don’t want to witness a holocaust in our own country where the likes of us anti-0bama citizens are forced into camps & eliminated because the Weathermen really do have a say in an 0bama future.

I don’t want our men & women in the military fighting foreign wars in the name of Socialism/Communism/Marxism/Maoism... instead of Freedom.

I don’t want terrorists & dictators left unchecked to kill & slaughter civilizations worldwide.

I don’t want to forgo doctor’s visits because by the time we can get an appointment, the problem is over & it’s worse or it’s too late.

I don’t want justices installed into every court in the country that are sympathetic to his vision and so legislate all the above evils onto us.

I don’t want to let this happen, so I will vote against it.

John McCain is manageable. Palin is #2, and she is no pinup merely there to pretty up the old man. I don’t think she gives anyone the impression she will sit idly by and not let her thoughts on matters be known.

BHO & his plans are completely incompatible to this country and unmanageable for anyone who opposes them. Should he win, and should his supporters & comrades continue to control Congress I fear what they will bring. Socialism’s disease, once let in to a country’s innerworkings, is nearly impossible to cure.

I am sorry this is so long. I love my country deeply. BHO and his wife do not. I fear if we do not fight back this threat, our world will change in ways that will be a lot more uncomfortable than what we’re talking about right now on this forum.

I’ve taken to realizing this is common sense: this IS good versus evil. In my opinion, BHO is not just a democrat or a liberal or a socialist or a marxist or fascist. He’s evil and he seeks a revolution that will destroy the ideals that make this country the greatest on earth.

His agenda is the ruin of this country, and if he is able to implement that agenda “conservative” will be a very uncomfortable designation from sea to shining sea.

I hope you understand why I wrote this out... as much as a part of you understands why you knew you’d get responses like mine when you posted. ;)

Best to you..

I’m having a very hard time reconciling the idea of voting for a faux conservative for President when there are real, honest to goodness conservatives running as 3rd party candidates

Maybe Robert McFarlane, Reagan's National Security Advisor, can help you decide.

There's an old Groucho Marx riff in which he launches a new career as a stick-up artist -- while worrying that his native cowardice may not induce the requisite fear among his victims. Sure enough, after a little time in a dark alley he springs out to confront his first victim, points his gun to his own head and says, "Take one step closer and I'll kill myself."

Such is the posture today among pundits on the far right of the Republican Party as Sen. John McCain moves closer to receiving his party's nomination. Consider the destructive implications of their pledge to work against Mr. McCain's nomination and even -- in the event he is nominated -- not to vote in the general election.

.....

Surely Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter can agree that these challenges are terribly demanding and cannot be left to luck or divine providence. Finally, there is the cost of their extremist rhetoric to the Republican Party. As President Reagan once told me, "Going over the cliff, flags flying, is still going over the cliff."

“...David Axelrod the Campaign Manager for Barack Obama says as of this morning the campaign had a meeting in Chicago and according to internal numbers they have “a clear road to victory...”

This is designed to create defeatism in the McCain/Palin Camp. The numbers do not provide that such a “clear road to victory” actually exists for Obama. The Obama Camp is trying to cause those whom support, or are inclined to support McCain/Palin throw in the towel and simply not bother to vote.

This in itself is a major point we must all address. There is no losing unless we allow it to happen.

Another bone of contention is the damned idiots that believe an Obama win will result in a Conservative win down the road.

Surprised as I was to read something from Michael Medved that I actually agree with was this article at this link:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2110852/posts

We are at war. NOT just in Afghanistan, and Iraq, but also here at home. The military needs our complete support, but we must address the Socialist takeover war here while we support our military heroes. We must make damned certain Obama’s “clear road to victory” is closed permanently by a sink hole.
