Ok, FReepers, time to "turn to!" All hands on deck! Man your battle stations!!

As reported on another thread:

"Major Garrett reports from Hawaii 10 minutes ago that David Axelrod the Campaign Manager for Barack Obama says as of this morning the campaign had a meeting in Chicago and according to internal numbers they have "a clear road to victory holding all Kerry states while picking up Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Nevada and Virginia with an excellent shot at Montana, North Carolina, West Virginia, and Indiana."

They are saying they will get to 400 EV's election night."

And I just heard through the grapevine yesterday that McCain-Palin are needing grassroots support in battleground states like Nevada, Montana, Ohio, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, etc.

Can you imagine conservative Republican states going for Obama? No, and neither can I. Obama has the money, the press and the resources. McCain-Palin has the grassroots. It's time for the grassroots to scramble to action!

Grassroots? That's us! Time for all Free Republic chapters and members to visit or call the closest McCain-Palin or Republican headquarters, grab some signs, man the phones, walk the precincts, join rallies, spread the word! Don't let Obama and ACORN steal the election!! Get in their faces!!

We did it in 2000 and 2004, we can do it again in 2008!!

Go to work FReepers and Lurkers!! Get out the VOTE!!

Living up in Oregon, my wife and I have already voted by mail. Even with the likely outcome of Obama winning this state, we believe that not voting (and not voting for McCain), is totally irresponsible. We have seen socialist governments up close and personal and that would be a horrifying outcome for our United States.

We are also doing everything we can to encourage like minded people to mail in their ballots regardless of what the pundits say. DON'T STAY HOME OR FAIL TO MAIL IN YOU BALLOT.

Obama (Hare) thinks he has already won and is relaxing in Hawaii and thinking about his big victory celebration. McCain (Tortoise) is slowly moving to the finish line. We all know who won the race.

I spent 4 hours working on GOTV phone calls at my local GOP office today. I had a GREAT time, met some really nice people and plan on going back at least 4 days next week for more.

The steady stream of foot traffic looking for lawn signs, bumper stickers etc. really encouraged me. I was working on an ulcer sitting at home glued to the TV all day. I was a bit nervous to volunteer but I'm so glad I did and I can't wait to go back.

Put your anger and fear to good use and call your local GOP, you won't regret it. If any of you are in Raleigh NC private message me and I'll tell you where the new north Raleigh GOP office is. They are well stocked with supplies and are looking for some bodies to help. They need volunteers for the final 72 hour push next weekend.

“McCain Versus the Juggernaut” [Rich Lowry]

Bill Kristol editorial in TWS. A particularly nice ending:

If Obama wins, we wish him well. But for now, we can only echo the words of the 30-year-old Abraham Lincoln. On December 26, 1839, responding to the confident prediction of one of his political opponents “that every State in the Union will vote for Mr. Van Buren at the next Presidential election” and that Lincoln’s opposition to the Van Buren forces was therefore bound to be in vain, Lincoln responded:

Address that argument to cowards and to knaves; with the free and the brave it will effect nothing. It may be true; if it must, let it...The probability that we may fall in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just...Let none falter, who thinks he is right, and we may succeed. But if after all, we shall fail, be it so.

As it happens, the Whig ticket Lincoln supported won that 1840 election. So might the party of Lincoln again.

With the dangers we face overseas, supreme court nominations coming up, and a liberal democrat congress, it is critical we win this election for freedom’s sake.

I don’t believe Axlerod at all. I have worked to get my whole family and friends on board to save this country from the communists.

We DO have work to do. Voting against Obama is the first step in the program to save America.

Get out and vote and DO NOT believe ANYTHING you hear from the media!

A friend of mine knows Sarah and also knows the Heath family. She just spoke with Sarah’s mom two days ago. She told me her mom is so sad to see what the press has done and continues to do to her daughter. Of course my friend says she told Mrs. H. to *stop* watching tv and reading anything right now. Her mom is so thankful and so very encouraged by all the prayers coming in! The two also spoke about this being a contest between the forces of evil and good in our world - and that we must not let evil win! A very perceptive lady.

Come on people! Get out there and get to those voters still on the fence! Go prepared to expose Obama and his communist & radical & socialist friends and “neighbors.” Remember this is OUR country! Don’t let them steal any more votes with fraudulent propaganda! In two weeks, it will be too late.

If you can get a message to the Heath family, please tell them how many FReepers keep their girl in our prayers everyday! I hope it might help to know how loved she is.

I agree! We voted for McCain and sent it in the mail! I have a very Democrat Dad NOT voting for the O. I have a friend that has been a Democrat all her life. She is voting for McCain.
(she is still a registered Dem too)
I have a daughter that did not vote for the O and another one asking me what to do. :) Telling the truth about O works folks!

My Oregon ballot will be delivered by hand to on election day. I don't trust the mail with my ballot.

I am surrounded by Obama signs in my hood and can't wait until this election is over.

Confrontation at Lepanto: Christendom Vs. Islam

Like an angry lion, the Turkish menace growled at the frontiers of Europe. In 1453, the last remnant of the mighty Roman Empire was obliterated when Turkish forces overran Constantinople. Western civilization was being threatened by medieval Islam. By 1570, a huge Turkish fleet had begun to turn the Mediterranean into a Muslim lake. A year later Pope Pius V created an anti-Ottoman alliance known as the Holy League—Christendom’s answer to Jihad.

One morning in October 1571, Don John of Austria, commanding the fleet of the Holy League, met the Ottoman Turks in the waters at the mouth of the Gulf of Patros. The future of a despairing, fragmented Europe was about to be decided....

By four o’clock that afternoon the naval battle had become a melee, and the sea had literally turned from blue to red from all the blood shed. When the smoke cleared, the Turkish fleet had been broken.

In sheer numbers of casualties there has never been a more costly naval battle than Lepanto. The Crusaders lost 17 ships and 7,500 men; the Muslims lost more than 200 warships and nearly 20,000 men.

For the first time in more than a century, West had defeated East. The Christians had successfully taken the offensive. Lepanto was one of the greatest turning points in history, though the centuries to come would see many more battles in the continuing conflict between Christianity and Islam.
