One of the more tiring duelling refrains of the presidential campaign is that: 1) John McCain was not born in the United States, and cannot, under the Constitution, serve as president, and, 2) Barack Obama says he was born in Hawaii, but cannot show a birth certificate. As tired as the line of reasoning on both fronts may be, it keeps showing up in the reader-comments on postings here in the Swamp. So we're here this morning, a little more than a week from the election of the 44th presient of the United States, to assure readers that both of the candidates for president of the leading parties are Americans. Amazing, but true, the candidates are Americans. McCain was born to American parents, his father serving as a submariner in the U.S. Navy at the Coco Solo base in the Panama Canal Zone when and where young John Sidney McCain III was born. Barack Hussein Obama II -- and yes, he actually has joked that he got his middle name from people who never thought he'd be running for president -- was born in Hawaii, in 1961, and has a birth certificate to show for it. So now, go vote early. For an American. And knock of the citizenship stuff..

One needs to provide a birth certificate to get a U.S. passport. How did Obama get a passport?

If he was born overseas, and/or lost his citizenship when adopted in Indonesia, then didn’t he have to become a naturalized citizen to regain his citizenship at some point? And wouldn’t he have had to provide that paperwork to get his passport?

I think his passport file would contain some answers to these questions.

The short form Hawaii Certification of Live Birth that appears in scanned in form on the factcheck.org website is all that is needed to receive a passport or a social security card as it is the only birth certificate that the state of Hawaii issues.

The original version of Barack Hussein Obama’s Certificate of Live Birth (#151 1961-010641) is on file with the state of Hawaii Department of Health. Obama obtained a copy of it from them on June 6, 2007.
The copy of the original that has been posted on the internet on various web sites was stamped and dated as having been issued on June 6, 2007 by Alvin T. Onaka, Hawaii state registrar and it contains Onaka’s official seal and stamp.

C’mon guys: the citizenship stuff is a diversion. We should be focusing on Obama’s multiple ties to folks who hate our country and our way of life. We should be trolling his self-serving books for all the embarrassing things he wrote. This is a guy who has said publicly we ought not drill for our own oil because foreigners don't like the fact that we use too much energy.
Obama’s mom was an American, although perhaps not a very good one. Another one world socialist. But she was a citizen. So her son was a “natural born” citizen, even if he was born on the moon. One of our children was born in Argentina, while I, an American citizen, was on a business assignment there. He is no less American than my kids who were born in the USA.

As a 20 something naval aviator, McCain was exposed to all kinds of geo-political issues in the areas he was assigned. Young fighter jocks are educated in current events and may be called upon by the sitting President to move a carrier into harm's way to defend the country. While McCain was sitting on an aircraft carrier in his fighter off the cost of Cuba with a pucker factior of 10, Barry was pooping in his diapers.

If captured, they are taught a code of ethics and expected behavior. McCain had a grandfather and father who were steeped in service to the country and were role models.

Barry was a troubled young man struggling for an identity and mixed feelings about his father (and who rally is his daddy?)and ethnically different mother and grandparents. He was indoctrinated in the principles of Saul Alinsky and became a community organizer to stir up class warfare and to manage corrupt construction contracts and later on, the techniques of skimming profits as a deceptive slum lord.

His spiritual advisor for 20 years preached anti-American sentiments and race/class warfare in addition to redistribution of wealth. His mentors have ties to the Black Panthers, Saudi businessmen, and self-proclaimed communists, Marxists, and anarchists.

A few weeks ago I watched a copy of ABC/Disney's 'Path to 9/11' (found it on the internet in Bit Torrent format). I now know why the Democrats and the Clintons have banned it.

With the clear resolve of Sen John McCain for our security and "No Blink" Gov Sarah Palin on the team contrasted against the wimpy approach Barry has taken to those who hate us - sitting down with our enemies -and Joe Biden's ever-errant mouth and defective mind (assuring Israel that they must come to grips with a nuclear-armed Iran), it would be a landslide victory for the Republicans upon viewing this movie.

I felt physically ill after watching it, thinking about the possibility of a Democrat win in November.

Not only remembering the heroism, but irresponsible and criminal acts of those like Jamie Gorelick and Sandy Burglar and the stupidity of Madeline Albright makes me proud, sad, mad, and nauseated all at once.

There is NOTHING....NOTHING presidential about Barry. I could not contemplate Barry making decisions (with Joe) if we were attacked again under their watch. I am quite scared of who Barry would have as his cabinet members (like Zbigniew Brzezinski), and terrified of who is in his 'kitchen cabinet', like Michelle-Amorosa or folks like Rezko, Axelrod, Raines, and Johnson.

When JFK lowered tax rates and increased revenue, Barry was pooping in his diapers. When Ronaldus Magnus lowered taxes and increased revenue, Barry was drinking, smoking dope, and trying to "collect his feces". When GWB lowered tax rates, Barry alternately says it wasn't enough or as a failure. I guess Barry still has not "collected his feces".

John and Barry had close contact with communists in their younger years - Barry embraced it. John was exposed to communists for over 5 years in a prison camp and left it with quite a different impression.

Will it be a ZERO or a HERO?

Yes, but it is my understanding that they did not submit it to the court, but posted it on the internet, and did not allow media or other interested people to see it.

The only document that the State of Hawaii issues as proof of citizenship is the Certification of Live Birth which says on the bottom of the document: “This copy serves as prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding.”
The Hawaii Certification of Live Birth is used by Hawaii residents to obtain a passport or a Social Security card.

It’s a blank Hawaii certificate of live birth (COLB) found on Google. Please note that the time of birth is shown as 7:24 PM. Anyone want to venture a guess as to what time is shown on 0bama’s fake COLB? If you guess 7:24 PM you’ll be correct. there’s a 1 in 1440 chance of that happening legitimately. 60 minutes times 24 hours = 1440 minutes in a day.

You are wrong on 2 points. First the COLB is NOT a copy of the original. It is a summary. Second, it is NOT the only copy that Hawaii issues. This is from one of their websites:

When applying for an application for DHHL (Department of Hawaii of Home lands) it states the following: In order to process your application, DHHL utilizes information that is found only on the original Certificate of Live Birth, which is either black or green. This is a more complete record of your birth than the Certification of Live Birth (a computer-generated printout). Submitting the original Certificate of Live Birth will save you time and money since the computer-generated Certification requires additional verification by DHHL. When requesting a certified copy of your birth certificate from the Vital Records Section of DOH, let the clerk know you are requesting it “For DHHL Purposes,” and that you need a copy of the original Certificate of Live Birth and not the computer-generated Certification. If mailing in your request form, please fill in “For DHHL Purposes” in the “Reason for Requesting a Certified Copy” section. (See example on page 6.)
