if premer obama is going to ban all guns (as I fear he will) than its smart thinking to buy as many as we can before he bans them. its a lot harder to take the guns from my house than it is to take them from the shelves of a fleet farm.

"I may want to convert the rifle to an SBR though."

I just picked up a Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 97S pistol yesterday. No SBR registration difficulties with that...

Locusts are stripping ammo shelves bare everyplace I look. And I spoke recently to somebody at Bushmaster, and he said they're absolutely getting killed with orders.

I think the threat of wild Democrats every eight years does wonders for the gun industry sales - I'm sure in the 'buy it now or forever hold your peace' frame of mind.

That said, I went out and bought 4,000 rounds of .223 at lunch today. It’s as good as gold.

I contribute to my ammo stash just like I do with my IRA - weekly. A couple hundred rounds every payday. It adds up!

The store up the road from me sold 29 AR-15s since Monday. He said the prices are going up, up, up.

WOW .... let's hope that Jan 20th a lot of 4473 document fires happen as FFL's start leaving the market.

RE: “I want to join the NRA but am scared that if Obama gets in they could use the subscription files to hunt down gun owners. And yeah, I’m buying ammo too! “

*********

I just joined — and got a cute NRA baseball cap as a thank you. I have NO gun; may or may not ever get one = depends on how this thing goes on Tuesday — but I would NOT worry about “them” getting subscription files and tracking gun owners using that info.

There’d be a ton of dead-ends by doing that. They’d have to get hold of gun owner registration records, not magazine subs.

Business at our local gun shop here is up by almost 50%. There is a 2 week wait now to use the range. Busy busy busy!

True but it’d be a start ... my understanding is that federal gun records are restricted after 30 days when you buy a gun. So far there have been several tries on getting those records but were unsuccessful ... in an Obama administration he’d find a way to get those records ....

I’m a lifetime NRA member and I would say you need to go on and join, however I would never apply for a CCW!

Curious what an AR-15 might run?

Depends. If you want a basic AR, not super high accuracy, and don't mind a used one, probably about 600. A new one will run you around 900 to 950. One with match grade components and a heavy barrel can run anywhere 1200 to 2000.

Personally, I'm enamored of the new 580 series Mini-14s. Significantly more accurate than the original 180 series, rugged, reliable, easy to handle, and great fun to plink shoot with. Picked up a brand new one for 750.

And the EOTech sight will set you back about 450-500. But I LOVE that thing on my weapon.

Forgot to mention, it also matters what brand you buy. Bushmasters can be a bit pricey. I think the best quality for the price is Rock River and Stag. Also, Armalite's are pretty good (not surprising, considering that they invented the AR to begin with) if a bit pricey.

This is exactly the news I expected. My family has already decided we’re going to get in on this at some point too, particularly if Barry wins.

I got me 2000 rds for my PS90. If anything, I’ll be well stocked for the riots. ;)

Or, you know, just going out and doing some fun shooting.
