As the boy attempts to make the switch, he's zapped by electricity and runs away. A boy from North Carolina was caught on tape trying to swap signs from John McCain to Barack Obama.
The video posted on YouTube.com shows a 9-year-old boy creeping up to a McCain/Palin yard sign outside of a home with an Obama sign.
As the boy attempts to make the switch, he's zapped by electricity and runs away.
Shawn Turschak of Chapel Hill, says he was tired of people swapping out his sign, so the home owner with a degree in electrical engineering hooked up the sign to an electric pet fence.
The boy's father, upset about the shock later showed up at Turschak's door, along with a sheriff's deputy.
No charges have been filed.

Local story here. Speculation is the kids father was running the show (What 9 year old goes around swapping political signs on his own?). The electrical engineer (and other neighbors) have been targets of sign McCain/Palin thieves for weeks (In the tolerant Peoples Republik of Chapel Hill). The guy even posted yellow electric fence warning signs around the political sign. He turned the current off after the kid got zapped, and filmed another neighbor later stealing his signs! Goes to show how tolerant these folks can be...

I actually like this idea. The kid’s Dad should have told him that that was what happens when you trespass and try to “exchange” signs!
I had come up with a different idea to “surprise” anyone who tried to steal my signs again but then I just decided not to put any out!

Thanks for the video.. it looks like the kid had already stole one from some other place before trying to lift that one. That was no an Obama sign he had, it was another McCain sign.

this is even more unbelievable..heard on fox today the dad told the deputy that his kid was “trying to understand how the sign was constructed”...what a total jerk this father is!!!
So??? the dad calls the sherrif and says— Hey,, ma boy was out stealing signs and this idiot has his sign hooked up to a pet fence and he shocked ma boy,,, and this dumb ass officer actually went to the man’s house,,, you can’t make this stuff up,, lololol, why didn’t the officer arrest the old man and his boy ????????
