Eligibility is a matter of Constitutional requirements, the voters have no say in that, so it doesn't matter if his ineligibility "hits them" or not.

I think the Kenya/Hawaii debate is academic at best. There is no hope of this question affecting the election. NONE.
I have to agree that he clearly seems to be hiding something on the document. Probably the name. If his parents were not legally married his last name could appear as Dunham. That alone would show him to be disingenuous and, as we here know but the public largely does not, that his whole career full of ‘proving’ his blackness and African heritage - the church, the politics, etc. - is calculated, cynical and almost sad.
His whole life seems to be about proving how black he is. Ironic that his downfall will come in a national election where he billed himself as ‘post-racial.’

US Passport does not prove citizenship. The State Dept. has some explaining to do. But this is the way it was up until two weeks ago.
The State Depart. allowed passports without Birth Certificates. All one needed was a Letter of No Record along with any amount or combination of a few other documents that could easily be obtained by anyone.
Face it, that birth certificate will NEVER see the light of day, even if Obama, Osama, Hussein, Barack, Libyan terrorist loses the election.
The fact that he is hiding it is clear enough to me that he doesn’t qualify. And that proof making it public would spell the END of the Democrat Party. Even Democrat faithful would bolt from the party and the only thing they’d have left are the shrieking anarchist freaks! What you are citing is a lack of evidence. That was my point. If this ever went to trial, we'd have nothing, while he used something, some legalistic trick or forged document, to obtain a valid US Passport. The fact that he was granted a valid US Passport would be used by his defense to trump our lack of evidence.
As I said, there are plenty of other issues out there we can hammer him on. I think this was a red herring, just like I think the Dems now, as a rule, do not release their medical records as a red herring. They want us to spin our wheels investigating these issues.
He's a communist. Make that case with people you meet. We have a far better chance at persuading people to vote for a non-communist than proving he isn't a US citizen before next Tuesday.

Just for everyone's info. Here is a comparison of a "vault" or original birth certificate from Hawaii and Obama's version that could have been issued after he was born in Kenya to an American Citizen or renamed after adoption. Note that the "vault" copy has hospital and doctor info. 
It is not a fringe element. It is a surpressed mainstream element.
And Obama has spent over a million dollars suppressing and manipulating it, which is NEWS in itself. Why not produce the document instead of locking down otherwise publicly available data, and spend a million bucks or more doing it?

Does someone dare respond to the source article linked at the top and point out that the Hawaiian authorities did NOT say that the birth certificate says that Obama was born in Hawaii? All they say is that they have a copy of the vault birth certificate and are refusing to release it. Therefore the headline is an outright lie, as even a careful reading of the article confirms.
Frankly, I don’t dare do it, because you would have to give your name and email address before posting a response, and I don’t want the Obama Gestapo coming down on me and my family.
Maybe someone could do it who is an internet techie, so he knows how to give a fake name and make himself untraceable? So far, there are only two dumb responses to the article.
Hawaii Law allows for a Birth Certificate to be issued to foreign born applicants.
The records are supressed because Obamas defacto birth, as required by the US Constitution to be within the USA, was in Kenya.

What I wonder most about is:
1) Who is responsible for checking credentials. (I have made at least 20 phone calls, and cannot find an answer.) Who is NOT responsible is the Secretary of State, the Governor, the Senate, the DNC or RNC, the FEC, the National Archives (run the electoral college) and apparently US Citizens cannot sue to find out. I don’t even know who else to call.
2) Why do “we” (the people) have to prove he is NOT eligible. Why does Senator Obama not have to prove he IS eligible.
3) Why don’t all presidential and vice presidential candidates, as a matter of course and record, release their documentation proving their eligibility.
4) Why are we forced, by default, to make a decision on the absence of information, rather than an abundance of information.
If there are any constitutianal authorities available, I would appreciate a common sense answer to the things I am wondering about.

I have contated my State Representative and asked him to bring to California a simple legislative effort which gives the right, responsibility and obligation to the Secretary of State to confirm ANYONE to our California Ballot BEFORE they go on. At this time the Secretary of State from California cannot confirm that Obama is eligible, but can confirm that McCain is.
Our Secretary of State is not able to confirm eligibility before putting them on the ballot at this time.
A legislative effort is necessary. If you live in California, please contact your State Representatives. If California had this as their requirement, it would be impossible for anyone serious about running for President to ever again put us in this position. (70 electoral votes)

It’s amazing the cavalier attitude when a Democrat is suspect of something. Everyone from Nixon to the current George Bush, you have to prove their innocence. Carter to Clinton, you have to prove their guilt, without any government provided documents. Those are sealed.

I actually take the time to call and talk to a person. If you have been following the story, you can discuss it sensibly and without it being partisan.
I usually say “Both Senators Obama and McCain were faced with this issue, Senator McCain released all of his documents and Senator Obama concealed his, and we are apparently unable, as a state, to require him to verify. If he had to verify BEFORE his name was on the ballot, this uncertainty would never happen again.”
I then usually follow up with an e-mail to the person I spoke with.
When they find out it is not just about Senator Obama, but about a loophole big enough to drive a Mac Truck through, then it is easier to discuss.
It is then about the system, which needs amendment, not about the current situation.

If anyone in Texas could get the ball rolling, imagine what that would do - California, Texas and Florida. This would close that loophole nicely.
Also, the Governor and Secretary of State are the wrong ones to contact. Who you want to contact is your State Senators (not Federal) and your State Representatives, either Democrat or Republican.
There can be no good reason why legislation cannot be enacted in a bi-partisan way requiring all candidates to prove that they can meet the requirements before being put onto the ballots.
The Secretary of State would be the person responsible for oversight, but has nothing to do with legislative efforts.
