US President George W. Bush late Tuesday telephoned his apparent successor, Democrat Barack Obama, to congratulate him on his "awesome night," according to White House spokeswoman Dana Perino. "Mr President-elect, congratulations to you. What an awesome night for you, your family and your supporters. Laura and I called to congratulate you and your good bride," she quoted Bush as telling Obama.
"I promise to make this a smooth transition. You are about to go on one of the great journeys of life. Congratulations and go enjoy yourself," Bush told Obama, she said.
The president also invited Obama and his family "to visit the White House soon, at their convenience," Perino said.
Bush was also to reach out to Obama's defeated rival, Republican John McCain, who conceded the fight shortly after 11:00 pm (0400 GMT).
Lord, I pray for safety for our troops.
In Jesus's name.
The education system gets blamed for a lot of things over which it has no control — like parenting. No, we can’t expect the schools to change wrong thinking, bad attitudes and behavior that is passed down to kids from adults.
I think that those millions of Americans who voted for O, thinking he’s going to take care of them, are going to get an education the hard way, through experience. I look for disillusionment with their “messiah” to set in pretty fast when they find out he can’t provide the dream world he’s promised.
The rather amusing irony is that it will be a half-black President who makes this mess, which will negate the charges of racism.
Let’s hope it falls apart quickly, so we can take back Congress in two years.
“Why havent all the other socialist nations become more conservative?”
That’s a great question.
Socialism is the political expression of secular humanism and atheism, both of which are the opposite of a Christian worldview.
Like Europe, America has turned its back on God. We are not willing to elect true Christian leaders. We would rather elect moral relativists like pro-choicers Jorge W Boosh and Bill swallow my cigar Clinton.
Quite frankly, I’m not at all confident things are going to improve any time soon. In many ways we are a prideful people who seem very assured of our moral superiority which is quite ironic and hypocritical in light of our rejection of God.
“The education system gets blamed for a lot of things over which it has no control like parenting. No, we cant expect the schools to change wrong thinking, bad attitudes and behavior that is passed down to kids from adults”
That’s an interesting take coming from a conservative.
I’ve seen surveys where a supermajority of homeschoolers are extremely conservative and pro-family. Definitely NOT Obama voters.
The pagan academies AKA socialist government schools educated today’s parents too. They are factories for socialist and secular humanist thinking.
Any Christian, conservative or constitutionalist who leaves their children in the government school system is either ignorant or a fool.
Do you see any hope of revival, or do you see the possibility of the wrath of God for our sin on the near horizon?
Well, thanks for calling me an ignorant fool.
I have 3 kids, all products of our local school system. They all enthusiastically worked and voted for McCain/Palin. They are self-supporting young adults, productive members of society.
All went to a major public university on 4 year scholarships, and they earned, among them, five engineering degrees. While in public school they earned National Merit, Eagle Scout and numberous other community and scholastic awards. All earned college-level credits in high school, enough to skip the freshman year of college.
They also shoot guns, hat tip to your screen name.
They are a product of the perfect combination: parents who care and who daily monitor their progress and their behavior, and teachers who know their subject and who are free to teach it with parental support.
I know more about this than you do, bub. Having done this right, I’ll pit my experience against yours any day.
Congratulations on raising successful children in spite of the government schools.
Instead of being offended by my comments, you should do a little research.
I suggest you look at the Barna surveys (eg. 80% of Christian children leaving government schools leave with a socialist worldview). Also read this book:

What you’ll see is that you are in the minority. Do you have an explanation why homeschooling families are so much more likely to consistently produce Christian, conservative voters?
I do. That’s why my children will never set foot in a government school.
Incidentally, I don’t consider enthusiastic work for a liberal, anti-gun, pro-abortion, big government Republican as prima facie evidence of a Biblical worldview, let alone a conservative worldview.
“Do you see any hope of revival, or do you see the possibility of the wrath of God for our sin on the near horizon?”
I pray for repentance and revival, because I think we are just because to witness God’s wrath, evidenced by many things.
Bush is moving to his mansion in Dallas. The wood chopping on the ranch was a ploy to look like Reagan. He fooled us all.
Obama should be thanking him for making it possible to move into the white house with his “good bride”.
The Cheney endorsement sure didn’t help.
Bush showed his true colors with the Meyers nomination. Harry Ried was all for her.
I have an old time democrat friend (because he’s old and still thinks the dem party is the dem party of the fifties) who’s always saying how stupid George Bush is. I see what he means. But, if this is exactly what Bush wanted so he’s not so stupid after all.
It was McCain who wanted co-chairs when the republicans took over all three branches. Just to be fair, you know.
I really don’t think McCain would have been any better than Bush. In fact, Obama was right. He would have been four more years of Bush. What I don’t understand is why the left hates him so much. He’s much closer to their views than to ours.
I talked to a man from upstate NY a few years ago and he said he wished the terrorists had blown NY City off the map. I now agree. And it probably won’t be long.
“I pray for repentance and revival, because I think we are just because to witness Gods wrath, evidenced by many things.”
because = beginning
The problem is stupid people get to vote. And you have a lot of people in NYC who want that free house and free tank of gas.
