I can’t find anything to indicate that Newt supported banning incandescents. The entire premise of his book is free market solutions to the (granted, completely non-existent) “climate crisis”.

Read what he’s actually saying. He’s making the case that any problem — real or imagined — can and will be solved better and more effectively by the free market. He’s also calling for more honest scientific study of climate change, which I suspect he knows will prove MMGW to be total bunk.

Honestly, if he was such a believer in the climate change lie, would he have really made “Drill Here, Drill Now” the centerpiece of his American Solutions project?

I think you guys need to give Newt another chance. He’s got a great mind, he communicates beautifully, he knows his history and he’s a tough Reaganite conservative who knows how to play the game. He foiled Billy Jeff’s plans for world domination two years into his reign, he can do the same thing to BHO. The RNC Chair is the perfect place for him, now is the perfect time.

I might return to the Republican party if that happened. I don’t know...he’d have to really prove that the party is returning to its Conservative roots.

No Newt. There are far better choices. Newd and Ghouliani are both an embarassment to the party. Find someone who doesn't go around dropping his drawers.

Well maybe . . .

Remember this was the same Newt who said Hillary would make a good/great president.

He also seems to have swallowed the “Global Warming” kool-aide as well.

so maybe not . . .

> THIS may be exactly what we need!
No it isn’t !!!
Newt has been drinking the Kool-Aid for a couple of years now. He actually believes in mad-made global warming and all that other environmental (socialist) clap-trap.
Unless he shows a change in his recent philosophy he will just be another hack left of center politician who thinks that he’s a conservative and even convinces himself.

Someplace back upthread you will read Newt denying that he agrees with the Dems about Global Warming.

That is really good to hear.

In any case party chairmen do not set policy.

Typically, but in Newt's case, I believe he would take an active role in shaping the party platform and determining the direction of the GOP. I'm all for Newt as long as he doesn't side with the country club Republicans who keep telling us to run to the center.

Newt will create an powerful message that connects with people, regardless of the coverage by the drive by’s. Personal responsibility, smaller yet EFFECTIVE government and safety at home and for our allies.

Then I'm for Newt.

A voice of sanity!!!!! I’m reading this thread and silently screaming “When will they ever learn!” Gingrich=RINO. Gingrich=CC Republican. Gingrich=Jerk, & then some. Excuse me while I go throw up.

Here is Newt Gingrich in a nutshell:

Right after Katrina, he was on Fox pushing for a “Marshall Plan” for the Gulf Coast. (Marshall Plan, for those who are too young to remember, was a massive amount of federal money we sent to Europe in order to jump start their economy.) He was trashing Bush for not proposing such a plan.

A year later, when all of the corruption and waste in the Katrina aid package was uncovered, Gingrich was on Fox again saying “well, this is what you get when the government does this instead of the private sector.” And then proceeded to trash President Bush for giving TOO MUCH aid.

He is obviously an opportunist, and would be THE WORST choice for RNC Chairman. Maybe you forget about his green initiatives and his appearances with Hillary, but I haven’t. I also remember his making a big deal about how he was going to stand up to the Clintons and then slunk away, no doubt when they confronted him with evidence of his extra-marital affair.

Some friends of his in Georgia may want to promote this idea, but it is a very bad one and I will fight it.

In 1996, I believe it was, Newton Gingrich said that he “melts” in the presence of one Bill Clinton. Do we need such weakness?

It does my heart good to think about getting Newt at the DNC Chair.

I also am on board with not supporting anyone that ran in the Republican Primaries running again in 2012.

Please Newt, make it all happen.
