The key to understanding the tragedy that was Jonestown lies in the oratory skills of the Peoples Temple founder, Jim Jones.
"He was very charismatic," Leslie Wagner-Wilson, a Jonestown survivor, says of the Rev. Jim Jones.
With the cadence and fervor of a Baptist preacher, the charm and folksiness of a country storyteller and the zeal and fury of a maniacal dictator, Jones exhorted his followers to a fever pitch, audiotapes recovered from Jonestown reveal.
As he spoke, they applauded, shouted, cheered. One follower who survived the "revolutionary suicide" at Jonestown on November 18, 1978, said that Jones was the most dynamic speaker he had ever heard.
Like all powerful speakers, Jones' greatest asset was his ability to determine what listeners wanted to hear and give it to them in simple language that appealed to them on an almost instinctual level.

There are two extremes to this but remember Obama pulled in 10% more conservative then in most elections.
That means he must of sounded conservative to some.
Which some pulls shown that his tax plan did help him. Because it sounded as though was going to cut taxes more for the middle class then McCain.

Surprisingly, yes, it did cover the fact that he had the support of Democrats for his socialistic utopian ideals. I was hooked enough to watch the rest of the special, anyway, LOLOLOL!
Jim Jones sounds like Barack Obama, for sure

1. used “social activism and radicalized rhetoric” to whip his followers into a fervor
2. was a Marxist Messiah who made people think that everything would be fine if they would follow his lead
3. promised change and equality.
4. intimidated the media when they were critical of him
5. was charismatic
6. had a Temple as his stage
7. gave speeches in which he talked about the injustices of the US, especially with regards to Blacks and how US government was coming to get them, to destroy them.
8. did not like to have disparity between the rich and the poor
9. had the support of Leftist leaders
10. had a seat on San Francisco’s housing commission
11. had a supportive relationship with radicals like Angela Davis; Russell Means of the American Indian Movement received a donation,
12. Jones and his temple had connections with members of the Symbionese Liberation Army (which had kidnapped Patty Hearst)
13. promised to bring CHANGE to the world.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say to me. Are you saying that 78% of the Jewish People voted for Adolf Hitler (mach shemo!)? Because I was trying to disabuse workingclassfilth of the idea that Hitler was opposed to "social decay." I was not referring to Obama.
The true "inner secret" of anti-Semitism, for all its alleged "conservatism," is a rejection of G-d. One anti-Semitic teaching is that morality itself is an artificial, decadent, unnatural concept that should give way to "nature red in tooth and claw." As hard as it may be to believe, Hitler was opposed to Communism for the same reason he was opposed to chr*stianity--he considered it a system of morality (which it is--a non-Theistically based system of morality), and he was opposed to morality. In fact, the goal of Nazism was the creation of a "new man" free of morality and conscience (Hitler said the Ten Commandments were a mutilation of the mind just as circumcision was a mutilation of the body).
It is too bad that so many conservatives allow themselves to be seduced by national socialist rhetoric because they do not understand that national socialism is opposed to morality, and opposes Communism only because it regards Communism as a form of morality.

Classical henotheism accepts all the pagan "gxds" and believes that each nation has its own "gxd"/"gxds" which are valid for it. In its more sophisticated form henotheism rejects the idea of any universal religious Truth or moral code and insists that each nation has its own peculiar "truth," which it illustrates by creating its own unique mythology and "gxds." The whole hue and cry about a "Jewish world conspiracy" is nothing more than a henotheistic rejection of the One True G-d and His Messianic Kingdom at the end of history. In fact, ironically, anti-Semites recognize that the existence of Israel as a distinct Nation is what holds the human race together as a single unit. Thus they oppose Jewish nationalism while supporting nationalism for everyone else. They know that (G-d forbid!) were `Am Yisra'el to disappear the nations of the earth would wander off from the One G-d and create subjective national totems and myths. Anti-Semites are fond of pointing out Jewish "hypocrisy" for insisting that they are the Chosen People while opposing metaphysical nationalism among other nations. But this is simply what happens when G-d creates a single human race and chooses one Nation out of it for a metaphysical mission.

Agreed, but Hitler really went after the open degeneracy that had fallen on Berlin and German cities in the wake of WWI. The secularism of Europe, then, besets us now. He wasn’t moral in an absolute Judeo-Christian sense, but he was very much a reformer - and a scourge.
The Commies also go after degeneracy once they have achieved power. They're only long-haired gay freaks when they're tearing a society down. Afterward it's all law and order.
And the group BAMN have groups, like lots of little ACORNS, all over the nation, just ready to fight "by any means necessary" any and all who stand ready to defend American principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
In re the show revealing the Dem support of Jimmie Jones? Good. Some might awaken; but the dead still sleep.

I remember a similiar experience in Chicago. Back in the early 1970’s, my friend had an apartment in the New Town area. We were invited to come down and witness a new event called the Gay Pride parade. Like you say, it was a real circus. We were young and stood with our mouths open in amazement watching (as you say, in wonder, disgust and amusement) the “sexually liberated” parade down the street doing things out in the open that we had never seen before. The event has grown every year. Now it is shown on television and the politicians all participate in the event. They have toned it down a bit since the early days, but the fact that is has become “mainstream” says volumes about where we have gone as a culture.

Nope. Me too, and I always have. It's "Discernment of Spirits," one of the spiritual gifts listed in the Bible.
Many years ago, gay acquaintances of mine moved out of SF. About a year later, they were buying a home in their new location. And they were getting a mortgage deal which was freakin' unbelievable from gay realtors. No down, lowest interest rate, nowhere else could come close to matching. There were strings attached, tho. They had to go to SF each year and march in the big gay pride parade, plus do local activist stuff for 3 years. That was the deal.
Over the next 5, I began snooping around. Turns out, this kinda of "real estate" (etc) transaction was going on for lots of gay people. Then, I began to understand a lot more about the fine rich, antiquish or modern lifestyles of the gay and well connected but getting "preferences" under various laws and regulations.
It wasn't that they were superior horse traders, made zillions, or were snappier designers.
My burning question came years later: "Who really wanted Straight Martha Stewart Threatened and Punished and under what ruse?".
Maybe one day I'll get to learn more about that.
Chilling stuff.
I don’t mean like human remains or whatever, but boxes of letterhead for things like the “Guyana Development Corporation” and other money-laundering fronts for Jonestown, lots of donated children’s clothing and toys in boxes waiting to be to be sent there, boxes full of records made by Jim Jones and the People’s Temple Gospel Choir, etc. Banners and portraits of Jones and other personality cult items of that kind. Jones was also a power player in SF Democratic Party politics, and there was lots of get out the vote material on hand.
And the place itself gave off a hugely creepy vibe.
