Ethics Questions Still Hounding Rangel
The Washington Post ^ | 12/ 2/2008 | Derek Kravitz

A steady stream of revelations about erroneous financial records and questionable ethics dating back to July has put the spotlight once again on New York Rep. Charles B. Rangel, prompting observers to wonder aloud whether it's time for Rangel to step down from his committee chairmanship.

The Democratic chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee has been at the center of a seemingly endless swirl of questions about his activities. He came under fire this week after The New York Times reported that Rangel worked to protect a tax shelter for Nabors Industries, an oil company whose chief executive was pledging $1 million to a school bearing the congressman's name.

The executive, Eugene M. Isenberg, also personally pledged $200,000 to the City College of New York, where the public policy school is named for Rangel. Last year, the company won congressional approval to preserve its tax shelter in the Caribbean, saving Nabors tens of millions of dollars annually and depriving the federal treasury of $1.1 billion in revenues

I wonder if he got a new deck on one of his properties? I guess that only applies for Republicans?

First and foremost, the msm will ignore, or spike, the story.

If the Democrats stay in character, in the grand tradition of William “Cold Cash” Jefferson, Rangel may be up for promotion to an even more powerful position.

That’s okay. . .Ted Steven’s resigned last week; and Rangel tells us that Nancy has promised him, that he will keep his Chairmanship.

How can Charlie violate ethics rules, when he didn't have any to start with?

Okay, Charlie pay your taxes and get out of rent controlled apartments. Join the rest of humanity.

It is impossible to know where a 'Demrat ends; and a Communist begins'. If you go as well; to COPUSA (Communist Party USA) or as above; any Socialist network; it is impossible to distinguish their agenda - and the goals - from that of our Party-in-Power. . .the 'loyal Demrats' that is.

Fools are they who imagine that being a Democrat today; means anything but repping the worst of communist elements/ideology.

What would the WW party think if they knew Rangel was working FOR “big oil?”

Or is it only evil, old white Republican men who do that...

The Left’s hypocrisy is astounding.

The House Ethics Committee began its investigation of Rangel on Sept. 24.

The probe covers a number of allegations: that he had inappropriately solicited donations for the school named after him from businesses and foundations using his congressional letterhead; his use of four-rent controlled apartments, and one of these as a campaign office, in violation of city and state regulations; his use of the Congressional parking garage to store his car, a 1972 Mercedes Benz with an expired license plate.
