Actually, that is a very good example of why it is difficult to trust ‘news’ people with deciding what is ‘news.’

So true.

Many of the talkingheads, hosts, commentators are more interested at running their mouths than in hearing what they actually say.

Frequently, they will make comments that are shallow or just factually wrong, and go on with their spiel.

At least, now, with the Internet, they get bombarded with emails when they do screw up. So, at least they know we are watching, and listening.

Is Chris being snarky like he’s been the past few months? Is he being respectful, or cutting her off before she’s allowed to finish her answer?

Please post what you see/hear!!!!

I'm going to have to get back into this slowly. I cannot watch Barky Obama fawned over on MTP. Not good for my health.

But I will be able to watch Jeff Sessions. It's kind of like a 12 step program :)

Actually, it's quite unbelievable. Last night, Jane Hall, who does not have the excuse of youth, opined that it was about time that the federal government started getting involved with the auto industry and making them produce cars that people wanted to buy. Is that not the most upside down thing ever? Where has the women been? The federal government has had its paws all over the auto industry for decades. How does she not know this?

And consider how amazing her acceptance and advancement of the notion that the industry should be run from DC. It's mind boggling.

Good point. They also miss what the guests are saying, or replying to in the answers to their questions, and that is simply a sign of a bad interviewer. A good interviewer (my opinion: something the media doesn’t have at all in 2008) listens to his guests. He doesn’t know the outcome of the interview—answers will reveal it and the next question should properly be based on those answers.

But, if you have an agenda, or what Phsstpok calls a meme, you’re caught in a game of gotcha! and miss out on so much, like actually giving your listeners something worth listening to.

The current crop of Sunday show interviewers are simple-minded and biased. Their interview “skills” reflect this, and really speak poorly for them as journalists.

Hey, I just found this thread in Breaking News: Sunday December 7th is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, so I'm posting it for all to REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR and how the patriots of our nation still remember.

Thanks to FReeper Dubya for the thread!

Thanks in advance.

I missed the start but what I saw was respectful and he did allow her to give full answers. After he played the clip of her piano performance for Queen Elizabeth, she was smiling broadly. They both ended the interview pleasantly.

Also for you, AB, it seems to me that Wallace gave Senator Shelby much more time this morning than he gave Levin.

Ah. Laverne, we do miss your remarkable skills, but the inability to watch our ouwn Pravdas in action is most understandable.

See the post by Alas on the level of interview “skills.” But in fact they don’t want to elicit information that would increase the understanding of the audience, so they may be capable of doing a good interview, they just don’t want to. That’s no longer the point. The point is to twist most Republicans and certainly all conservatives into pretzels and present them in a bad light.

There is little reason to watch that unless you are on the side that simply enjoys the sport.

AB, for you, but it’s really hard to listen to the Fox panel!!!

They are discussing Obama and the sentiment of many for him to start governing before Jan 20. How he will ‘effectively be president’ soon, because of a vacuum yadda yadda in Washington now...

I remember January 20, 2001 very well. Bill Clinton would not get out of the way so the Bush Inaugural Parade could even start — on a sleety, cold, wet day in DC.

Talk about taking over early! Grrr.

Bambi on NBC...what a surprise. Must be paying off for the free media received during election.

nothing can save Chrysler

Half of my neighborhood has a Chrysler Town and Country in the driveway; and almost 1/3 of those are the same color my wife chose for her T&C (the rest are all copycats, don't you know...)

The brand name will survive, somewhere. Unless, of course, the congress continues to believe their press clippings and thinks that they can mandate an economic solution.

Thanks maica (and thanks for keep on keeping on with the sunday shows.....). That was the scuttlebutt, but...one never knows the truth when listening to the media anymore. They are worse than politicians putting out stories to test the waters, so to speak, before they announce something as fact.
