Has Jamie Gorlick been seen anywhere under the radar of O’s appointments?
“Obama and the sentiment of many for him to start governing before Jan 20. How he will effectively be president”
Where is Robert Rubin to warn against ‘irrational exuberance”?
I haven't seen it, but if she shows up there had better be an atomic explosion from our side.
Howie Kurtz had a very interesting interview with Michael Wolff of Vanity Fair who has just written a book about Rupert Murdoch.
Item. Murdoch is a newspaper man, Roger Ailes has total control of Fox News Network - in his contract. Murdoch is afraid of Ailes “a scary guy” acc. to Wolff - who says it with as flat an affect as if he was commenting on today’s weather. Murdoch brought Obama to a meeting with Ailes so that Obama could tell Ailes to change the Fox coverage of the O. “They sat knee to knee” and “Obama is not afraid of Ailes.”
Item. Murdoch is hen-pecked. His second wife was conservative, and so he was “during that period of time.” His current wife is liberal, and Murdoch is enjoying being with the “larger circle” of acquaintances that this brings.
(NB: I have always said that Murdoch could not be a conservative and support the trash tv that the Fox Channel has always pioneered. He is just a pure capitalist.) But like Buffett, another billionaire, now that they have too much money to count, they are happy to support candidates who will strip liberty from ‘ordinary’ Americans. They look at us the way landed gentry often looked at their miserable tenants.
Item. Murdoch is aiming to beat the New York Times with the Wall Street Journal, so is changing it away from mostly business, to mostly news - going after advertising dollars.
I’m not from LA, but two words come to my mind.
Bobby Jindal
This has been clear for some time. There once was a country that used a guillotine in such a situation.
Have you heard that Caroline Kennedy “wants” to be appointed to Hillary’s Senate seat? That is according to her cousin, Robert, Jr who doesn’t “want” it.
For either one of them to succeed at the national level, they would have to let their own instincts take charge of the campaign and get the professional campaigners out of the decision-making. Otherwise it's like the last several campaigns, long on technique and short on substance.
It's like reaching a business agreement; the first thing you do is throw the lawyers out of the room, work out the important things, and then call the lawyers back in to put the agreement in writing. When we let the lawyers run amuck we end up with President Obama and the Bush-Obama Bailout Package.

I’m reading History of the American People by Paul Johnson. FDR apparently wanted Hoover to appoint him as Secretary of State immediately after the election, & then resign so that he could move into the White House. What is it with Democrats? Such hubris!
Brilliant!
Why they haven’t done that before, I just don’t know. the RHINOS are all on the bandwagon, of “That’s in the past.”
Yes, I have. One of our royal families, you see. The one with the right to rule over the rest of us now that they have pretty much pushed the Constitution out of the way as admitted by the Banking Queen on Friday during the hearings where the elected officials who have brought this economy to its knees lorded it over the auto execs and scolded them for "bad behavior."
I can't get the taste of bile out of my mouth.
At one time, FReeper Peach was excellent at doing this.
FoxSunday ...
Infrastrusture $$$ have already been given to states - if states have used it to do other projects do they again get
more $$$’s in this new handout!!
and BTW ... I did not like Chris Wallace’s ‘interview’ of Rice. But, I don’t like Wallace either.
Hmmm, David Asman is aware that the people on FreeRepublic don’t like Barky Obama very much.
He thinks we are a blog, however.
Yes. But peach's account has been obliterated.
I understand that Barack Obama used the phrase “shovel-ready” on MTP when talking about what kind of spending programs he wants to pass right after taking office. That statement is such a target-rich environment.
I can’t believe how Kristol was smiling broadly when he was talking about the great Obama/RAT plans to socialize our country.
What ever happened to Peach, get the boot or what?
Yeha, this bailout bonanza is getting really ridiculous.
