Think tank: If each of us carried a gun . . .
Times Online (London, UK) ^ | December 8, 2008 | Richard Munday

The firearms massacres that have periodically caused shock and horror around the world have been dwarfed by the Mumbai shootings, in which a handful of gunmen left some 500 people killed or wounded.

For anybody who still believed in it, the Mumbai shootings exposed the myth of “gun control”. India had some of the strictest firearms laws in the world, going back to the Indian Arms Act of 1878, by which Britain had sought to prevent a recurrence of the Indian Mutiny.

A free people ALWAYS had the right to arms.

SLAVES never did - regardless of the “format” of their servitude.

BUT, ACCORDING TO DIANE FINESWINE, BABS BOXER, CHUCKY SCHUMER, ET AL – OOOOO – GUNS ARE SOOOO DANGEROUS!! In what may be a perverse form of population control, these MORONS – many of whom are themselves armed or have armed people around them -- would prefer us to have to call 911 – and DIE while the cops are en-route.

These murderous muzzies are HERE and the more of us who CARRY CONCEALED, the more of them we can “off” BEFORE they kill on the scale of their recent activities in Mumbai.

WHY THEY WANT OUR GUNS!!

I have a couple of Brit friends and they get it. Sadly though the most of the country is suffering from the same wave of stupidity that has taken over our country.

So do not look for GB to ever have gun rights again.

... handgun crime, for instance, doubled here within five years of the prohibition of legal pistol ownership ...

I can't believe there are civilized societies still having this discussion.

Why do most mass shootings happen in ‘Gun-Free’ zones?

“Yes, as long as it’s ‘everybody trained to carry a gun. Would you want to be sitting next to somebody like that jerk in NY who shot himself in the leg?”

Agree that training is important for responsible handling and manipulation, but the 2nd doesn’t have a training clause.

Burris found out the hard way what serious folks know from training. Mexican carry works with a “peacemaker,” but a glock needs a holster, and a real belt.

Cheers

I spoke with a guy from India the other day. We’ve talked at the gym before, and he was always liberal, pacifist and very critical of US policy, Guantanamo Bay and the WOT. Well, NO MORE! He was furious at Muslims, wanted India to go to war RIGHT THEN against Pakistan and totally, FINALLY, understood the purpose of Gitmo. He said, “what do we do with these animals, we can’t give them trials? Now India needs it’s own version of Gitmo”.

I didn’t say “welcome to the party pal”, as much as I wanted to, but just smiled and said, “I think India and the US are about to get a little bit closer”.

I’ve always thought that given enough time, the Muslims would piss off every civilized country on earth until the backlash wiped them out forever. They are well on their way. They have just made enemies of one billion Hindu’s, some of the most pacifist people on earth. Those pacifists now what blood, and they may get it. It’s too bad they don’t all own a gun.

Since most black murders are the result of Black-on-Black crime, shouldn't this man be crying about the *people* who have metaphorically harmed him, rather than the guns they used to do it?

If you could (not that you can, except maybe Gort) take away all those mean old guns from the equation, and left the drug-addled, choose-not-to-learn-or-work perps IN the equation, wouldn't he be surrounded by broken bottles? Steak knives? Baseball bats?

Societies?

Can you spot the pro-gun control folks right here on FR?

Ran into the same thing on AR15.com recently. "I'm pro-gun, but there are a lot of folks out there I don't want armed." They never stop to think that those in power don't want them armed either. Even more depressing is the number of law enforcement folks espousing such views.

Most people are too willing to give up a freedom if it's one they either don't use, or perceive as something that could be "unsavory" to their sensibilities.

We both know you ask a purely rhetorical question.

Having said that, for the benefit of any Dimocrats lurking here who don’t grasp the concept of a rhetorical question — or much of anything else in the REAL WORLD — the answer is that GUN-FREE ZONES ARE THE SAFEST PLACES FOR THEM TO GO TO KILL PEOPLE WITHOUT FEAR OF EXPERIENCING RETURN FIRE.

Good grief, they might get HURT or worse.

Trained? How do you get training with every idiot legislator out there demonizing gun owners, gun use, and essentially trying to ignore the Second Amendment?

We have NIMBies who move in next door to a firing range, then get them shut down because of noise or environmental lead.

We have legislators and police chiefs publishing lists of CCW holders and expanding the pool of those they feel they can "disqualify" for whatever misdemeanors are in vogue this year.

How many of us are retired LEO or former military? Do we really need MORE training? How about those of us who shoot IPSC, Cowboy Action, DCM, or IDPA? Do we need more training too?

Just trying to get the Dimocrats to THINK for once.

You can Phrase things another way:

Whom would a terrorist or criminal rather face, a person who CANNOT be armed, Or someone who MIGHT be armed?

10 guys, armed with full autos with lots of ammo plus grenades, against a bunch of sheeple concentrated in hotels and train stations. They were LUCKY that casualties were that low.

Every single mass shooting in a Victim Disarmament Zone must be pointed out for what it is: a state-sanctioned massacre.

I hate to give the socialist ideas here, but I bet we will see the EPA try to outlaw smokeless power for reloading based on gunsmoke being a source of air pollution. I would laugh at this idea if campfires, home fireplaces, cow and hog farts were not on the EPAs to do list already. We might be using black-powder to reload with soon for our CCWs.
