On Wednesdays CBS Early Show, co-host Harry Smith interviewed actor James Franco, who stars opposite Sean Penn in a new movie about gay San Francisco politician Harvey Milk: "Actor James Franco is here to talk about his role in the much-talked-about new movie, 'Milk.' He is amazing in it." At the end of the show, Smith thanked Franco for being a guest and offer this review of the movie: "James Franco in 'Milk,' amazing performance. Sean Penn, off the charts. It's a must-see for everybody."
On November 30, CBSs Sunday Morning offered a similar glowing description of the film, describing Milk as a "rebel with a cause." In the Wednesday interview, Smith described Francos role in the movie as a career-maker: "...theres this completely other performance here. I mean, there's a part of you that's go to be, this means I have a career, and 'I'm not just -- I'm not the pretty face on the Gucci ads, I get a career now."
The full transcript of the Wednesday segment is contained at the end of the article.

I think we all can see that coming. I think Philadelphia picked up a few awards back in the ribbon-wearing hysteria years.
I hear it is Josh Brolin that is the best in the movie. Of course who really wants to win Best Supporting Actor over Heath Ledger this year?
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Clint Eastwood get the best actor award now that he has said he is done acting.
So far The Curious Case of Benjamin Button looks like the best movie to me.
I totally forgot about that!
Came out about the same time as Saving Private Ryan....I rented it, hoping for more of the same. I watched it for 30 min or so and shut it off. Baaaaaaaaaad.
I vaguely remember reading the book when I was a kid, remember it as an OK read.
So are you saying either the movie was bad, or Penn is bad in them?
I think you will be hard pressed to find many who agree that he was bad in Mystic River. In fact I wouldn’t say he is outright bad in anything.
That’s a whole lot of crap. He has been on my Must Not See list for some time (his self importance, his ‘I’m making an important piece, I’m teaching people with my film’ attitude - and then it’s all leftie pablum). Thank you for reminding me why. I won’t be seeing Milk. I think he could well be one of the more overrated actors of our time. Ironically, I do enjoy his comedic roles on sitcoms. And I loved his brother, the late Chris Penn.
Milk was just a Supervisor. It was Mayor Moscone’s death alone that elevated Feinstein, who was the President of the Board of Supervisors. Her ascension would’ve occurred even if Milk had survived. Moscone was a scary and ignorant moonbat who had Rev. Jim Jones and his People’s Temple zombies help to push him to victory over the last viable GOP candidate for Mayor in SF to date back in 1975, John Barbagelata.
Mayor Christopher, of course, was Greek. WTF is up with RINO Greeks anglicizing their names, anyway?
Especially after Brokeback Mountain got stiffed.
Well, if someone wants to see Spicoli in middle age putting his tongue in another guy’s mouth (which I’m sure this movie shows), it’s a must-see.
Yup, in San Francisco, they’ve gone from politicians with vowels to violated bowels in just 30 years.
I read that Penn had insisted on extended Frenching with James Franco. I’m surprised he didn’t go whole hog and show them fisting with telephoto lenses from Milk’s camera store.
I have a friend who is a movie buff and a moderate. He told me he was going to see the movie because of the reviews.
I suggested that if he had to see it, he should buy a ticket to another film at the multi-plex and just walk into the milk.
He said he would
Cannot afford private school, and we work too much to homeschool.
Anagnostopoulos!
One of the biggest mistakes conservatives make is abandoning the public schools and not confronting godless liberalism head on.
SO people like you and me have to fight not only our own battles but theirs (that have abandoned us) too!
After all, they still pay taxes for these debacles. Moreover liberal kids are still every bit as indoctrinated and then some.
We redouble our efforts to ensure they get an education and not socialization. And I’ve confronted the staff on several occasions.
Liberalism shold ALWAYS be confronted.
Was White one of ours or a conservative rat?
Now the green party is the second party in Frisco. Scary place. Tourism must really suffer.
Were any of the last Republican mayors conservatives or decent at all?
