ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Gov. Sarah Palin says she would not accept a raise recommended by the State Officers Compensation Commission. Palin spokesman Bill McAllister said Wednesday that if the Legislature submits legislation for a raise, Palin will not accept the money. Instead, if the raise is approved, she will subtract the difference from her current salary and donate it to charity or find a way to redirect the funds for the benefit of others, McAllister said.

It’s only fair to note that in 2006 she accepted a 46% percent pay increase.

If we're going to be fair, let's notice that Governor Palin was elected in November of 2006, after the pay raise was approved. She accepted her starting pay at the level established before she took office, which is different from signing a bill approving a raise for herself. I don't worship Governor Palin, and I don't take offense at those who look at her objectively to find her flaws (I'm still looking for any that matter), but I do see her as completely in the right in both 2006 and 2008.

Neither this year nor next year is it actually operating in the black. Reserves are being depleted rather quickly.

More misleading statements. The CBR is MUCH higher now than it was at the beginning of the budget year and will end the year substantially higher (unless the state stops pumping oil altogether between now and June 30, 2009).

It is true that there are challenges going forward in the new budget for Gov. Palin and Alaska. If the oil price is significantly below $60/barrel in the NEXT budget year, some very tough decisions will have to be made.

"WOW, just WOW, she has the grace of a Princess Diana, Diana was mocked by the press too"

I have no doubt that when Sarah does her eventual visit to the UK, the Brits (sans Muslim Brits) will love her to! Shades of "The People's Princess."

Conresscritters get $165,200 and they’re not worth it.

I believe there are professional haters, who do nothing but look for places where they can put her down. What is needed is something, a group or some individuals who will post positive comments about Sarah everywhere there is a story and a comment board to counter the professional haters.

Haters already at it. I found this statement at

“she’s going to sign a multi million dollar book deal. by forgoing 25K up front she is able to convince simple minded right wing nutjobs that she’s some sort of enlightened politician”.

Not a word about this however Rachel D’Obama took the time to investigate Alaska state employees e-mailing racists jokes.

The obsession with her will never end.

Please tell her to cut the populist crap while you are at it.

I was begging for McCain to pick her as the VP nominee back in September. It saved him from a 45 state landslide.

But if I have to hear Sarah say “You betcha, we’ll get those greedy tobacco, oil company and Wall St. folks” in 2012, I’m gonna hurl.

That’s what dems are for.

Jeeze, I’d love to see the nasty jokes about Bush that were circulated in state government email accounts. Or even the nasty jokes about Palin. Sexist jokes should also warrant “diversity training”. I can’t believe the level of misogyny coming from the left during this election.
