President-elect Barack Obama's transition office said in a report released Tuesday that its staff had no inappropriate communications with the office of Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who is at the center of a corruption probe.
The five-page report identified incoming White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel as the only aide who had direct contact with Mr. Blagojevich. Mr. Emanuel "had one or two" telephone conversations with the governor between Nov. 6 and Nov. 8 to discuss his own resignation from the U.S. House as well as potential nominees to fill the Illinois Senate seat being vacated by Mr. Obama, according to the report written by incoming White House Counsel Greg Craig. (See the text of the report.)
On a conference call with reporters, Mr. Craig stated further that Mr. Emanuel had "about four" conversations with John Harris, Mr. Blagojevich's chief of staff, who was also arrested on corruption charges. "My inquiry determined that there was nothing at all inappropriate in those conversations," said Mr. Craig. Mr. Emanuel has so far declined to comment.
Mr. Obama, who campaigned on a platform of greater government transparency, had pledged to conduct an internal investigation on possible contacts between his staff and that of Gov. Blagojevich, and to make public the results of its findings.
Messrs. Blagojevich and Harris were arrested on Dec. 9 for allegedly trying to trade or sell the Illinois Senate seat being vacated by Mr. Obama, among other charges. The report said Obama senior aides Valerie Jarrett, who had been under consideration to fill the Senate seat but removed herself from contention, and David Axelrod "did not have any contacts with the

how can an internal report be an audit?
Yep, I am going to clear myself on the next IRS audit(I have never had one but if one comes up I now know I can clear myself), and if anything else comes up I can clear me on that also.
I find myself “not guilty” court adjourned!
Bet Obama is relieved that the results of the investigation he did uncovered no wrongdoing.
Of course not. Obama did not even know all those crooks like Blago and Rezco and all the crooks in Chicago. Obama is not a crook. I saw it on TV.
Sounds better to stupid moonbats.
All that needs to be said.
“Mr. Emanuel has so far declined to comment.”
Smart guy, better be certain what’s on all those recordings before he comments on the situation.
A five page report???
Heck, if this was a pubbie, the NYT's front page article would be five pages long smearing the party and person
Can't Obama at least have the opportunity (although he still resides in the office of the president elect) to look into the camera's of the MSM with a crooked finger and state "I had no improper contact with that Governor....Blago.....jevich!"?
So who is Tom Balanoff and who told him it would never happen?
“Messrs. Blagojevich and Harris were arrested on Dec. 9 for allegedly trying to trade or sell the Illinois Senate seat”
