The Ultimate Bailout: Why Nationalized Health Care Is Coming

Joe Weisenthal | Dec 26, 08 11:46 AM

Obama didn't campaign on a vision of completely nationalized healthcare, despite the popularity of this idea in liberal circles. We weren't totally sure what his vision was, actually, though John McCain's goal of de-linking health insurance from employment was one of the better ideas put forth during the whole campaign.

Regardless of where Obama stood during the campaign, we think a new, nationalized healthcare system has a real shot of becoming a reality in this environment. The reason is simple: It's the easiest way for the federal government to undertake a massive bailout of cities and states, which are at their breaking point.

followed by, or featuring, euthenasia — because healthcare must offer “choice” to all.

small businesses can no longer afford to offer health care to employees and it’s a major expense for large companies.

they are hoping the money saved will get poured into new equipment and expanded personnel

As I’ve said before: if/when this happens, I am going to do my part in bringing it down.

Every little ache and pain will be dealt with by a doctor. I will insist on a doctor, not a nurse.

I will become a leech on the system.

And communists don’t have any regard for “citizens” once they are no longer considered “productive”. Then they become a “burden”.

You will have a 6-9 months wait to even see a physician.

My guess would be that health care simply would not be available to conservatives or republicans under such a scheme; we’d simply be allowed and encouraged to die out.

Oh. Don't worry. I'll have so many different things lined up that I'll see someone with a white coat once a week. :)

thank you, it was obvious. I’d just awakened from a nap. Or perhaps because it was obvious twenty years ago, but then nobody was listening and I lost interest...

Just need a big insurance company like United or Aetna to need a bailout and the gov’t can sweep in and take over the entire industry. Just the opening they would like.

It seems that our arrogant elected theives see that tax payers as a bottomless pit which they can steal money from for any hair brained idea that enters their pea brain that my get them reelected.

When joe sixpack has no more money for them to steal they will be in total control and not even bother to worry about reelection because they will pass a law that says that each voter must pay a fee in order to vote, no money - no vote, problem solved.

we think a new, nationalized healthcare system has a real shot of becoming a reality in this environment. The reason is simple:

This guy cannot do his analysis. 1 in 7 GDP dollars goes into health care. That is about all that the health care system can get. We can fuss with it around the edges, but the reason it is broke has more to do with how we pay for it and how we manage it (way too much bureaucracy) than in how much we pay for it.
