Wonkette grave-robbing operative “Vasyl” sends us this hilarious bit of information about your would-be new junior Senator from Illinois, Roland “Don’t Lynch Me” Burris: “Just so you know, that nice old black man who is set to become the next US Senator from Illinois is well prepared. He has already built a tombstone — actually, more of a monument — with all his accomplishments listed on it. Planning ahead, he has left extra space for additional accomplishments.
Also, Roland Burris’s children? They’re named Roland II and Rolanda. No joke.” HMM… It appears that there is much to learn about this so-called “Roland Burris.” [Flickr]
Maybe this is Blago's way of appealing to one of the most important RAT constituencies: the cemetery votes.

Our Founding Fathers had to make do with simple headstones. Thomas Jefferson’s simply states that he wrote the Declaration of Independence and founded the University of Virginia. There is no mention of his being the third President of the United states or the first Secretary of State, or that he founded the Library of Congress.
Perhaps Mr Burris is worried that when the time comes for a monument to be raised to him, people may not think that he deserves one.
Maybe he thinks he is a Pharoh.
His monument to himself will pale in comparison to what he will do with the taxpayers money.

It was one profession Blacks couldn't be locked out of and sooner or later you meet everybody in that line of work, so some prominent African-American political families (the Fords of Tennesee, for example) have a funeral home somewhere in the family.
It's the same way with other ethnic groups involved in urban politics.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s appointment of Roland Burris has put the Democratic party in a box. By appointing an African-American to the empty Senate seat, Blagojevich has forced his political opponents to risk being called racists. In supporting the appointment, Congressman Bobby Rush called opposition to Burris an attempted lynching. Whether this analogy is justified is questionable, but it is the same tactic that has been used against conservatives for decades, most recently by the Obama campaign. Democrats are getting a dose of their own medicine, and I hope it goes down like a bitter pill.

What do you mean? It says right there on his monument that he is the most modest man in Illinois.
No wonder he said yes. He wants to fill in the top line(s). But it’s sort of prophetic he left room for top lines. Maybe Burris is the real magic negro!
The main question by far is did he have any prior conversations with Blag or his staff, back when the tapes were running.
My folks planned ahead...well I should say my dad did. But his marker is nothing like this..it is a regular head stone with the last name in bold large letters and then in smaller letters his name and mom’s. They are both now residing there. Actually, as goolish as it may sound, when they passed away ( with 5 years and two weeks between them) for us kids it was a blessing not to have to decide what kind of marker to have..Dad took care of business. And I miss them both..dad is gone 8 years and mom 14, both in Nov..one on Veteran’s Day and the other Thanksgiving Day.
Oh, I forgot one thing..my dad was born in Rantoul, IL..Could this be an Il thing?

My guess is not. Burris is probably as close to being honest as it is possible for an Illinois Democrat to be.
