OAKLAND, Calif. Protests over the fatal shooting of an unarmed man by a Bay Area Rapid Transit police officer turned violent Wednesday night with windows broken, fires set and train stations closed.
A few hundred protesters took the streets of downtown Oakland to condemn the shooting and call for criminal charges against 27-year-old officer Johannes Mehserle. Oakland police reported at least 15 arrests.

No one who actually lives in northern California considers anything south of Napa, “northern California”.

Violence is not the answer. It will only convince more people that Oakland is a place to stay out of.

Rural Northern California, and the Sierra foothills, have nothing in common with the rest of California.
There was actually a movement in 1941 to create a 49th state out of portions of N. Calif and S. Oregon. It was gaining momentum, but unfortunately got sidetracked by an incident in Honolulu on Dec. 7th.

How ironic that it was protesters who created the environment that led to the shooting in the first place.

I’d love to see the cops of Northern California begin a protest for the 1000’s of unarmed civilians killed by gangbangers in the area.

I say let them riot. Police and the light of skin just stay out of the way and let them burn, loot, and maim their own and clean up after its over. The citizens that are unarmed and can’t protect themselves have no one to blame but themselves for creating the liberal environment that exists.

blame the citizens, that's right. The bystanders were just people waiting for their trains at a busy station - the young lady who captured video of the shooting was lilly white, btw.
