The GOP absolutley needs to clean house of all of the rats. If not, it is through. Something has to be done about the RINOS. What else has to happen before a purging is done? I have no idea how or what, but, somebody out there has got to have an idea of what to do that will really work.
What has to be done is a specific target of unreliable members and to run them out in the primaries. Sadly, it seems like in TN, we see RINOs ousting Conservatives. In the 1st District for Congress, for example, David Davis was a solid freshman Conservative who lost due to RINOs and Democrats voting for Roe, his RINO opponent in the primary. With Roe’s win, the state delegation moved leftward.
One big problem, too, we have in this state is that we have open primaries, which invites Democrat chicanery (so in GOP areas where Dems don’t run candidates (or weak candidates), they interfere and choose OUR candidates), and another is no runoff. We got Corker because he didn’t have to go to a runoff against Ed Bryant despite only getting a plurality.
I’m from the 1st district and was very sad to see David Davis go. I got to hear him speak shortly before the election and was very impressed by him. I think that you are exactly right about our primaries being open causing trouble. Is that something that can be changed? If so, how?
Yes, Davis was a great loss. Last I heard, he was going to seek a rematch against Roe (which would be their third faceoff). Roe’s entire reason for going to Congress was to “be nice to the Democrats” (which I’m sure you must’ve heard) because that “mean” Davis wasn’t kissing their liberal butts. Gee whiz, Phil, why don’t you just run as one, that way you’re being honest about your intentions ?
I’m not sure what process could be done about officially closing the primaries, I don’t know whether that could simply be unilaterally done by our party (which it should). Because frankly, if this is the kind of chicanery we’re going to continue to see, we might as well go to guerilla warfare and similarly run our people as Democrats and have them vote GOP at organizational sessions. Oh, what, we can’t do that ? Nope. Because the Democrat party will REMOVE a candidate from the ballot they suspect as being GOP-supported. We should’ve done that with Roe, when it was obvious his victory was due to Democrats, but the state party refused. That’s the kind of problems we face. They get away with murder and we just sit back like amiable dunces taking their abuse and say, “Thank you, sir. May I have another ?” They win because they have no sense of morality, honor, decency, you name it, anything to win, even if it means selling their souls.
As for Traitor Williams, he may savor his victory now, but when the real judgment day comes for him, I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes explaining how he sold his soul, lied, and betrayed his friends, colleagues and party for power. Spiritually, he has a very dead look about him.

Who do you think you are? How do you justify this? Either it’s a naked grab for personal power or you were a Democrat in your heart all along and committed fraud on the voters in your district when you ran as a Republican.
Republicans received a good deal more votes for the Tennessee House than Democrats did. Only through gerrymandered lines did the Democrats hold to 49 (or was it 50 Mr. Speaker?) seats, they were given a mandate to lead. The fake “bipartisanship” you espouse received no mandate. We know you are taking cues from Boss Naifeh, he of the corrupt faction of House Democrats who have ruled over Tennessee for what is it 30-40 years? We saw him whispering in your ear on the floor of the house, IT’S ON TAPE. Who do you think you’re fooling?
Democrats have ruled Tennessee for over a century despite receiving fewer votes for the legislature for since 1994. It’s time for a change, the voters wanted a change, you spit in their face sir. When was the last time Republican held the statewide offices that will be elected by the legislature as so as you deign to allow it?

1 more Democrat elected in 2010 ans you’re out and Boss Nass is back in your chair, 1 more Republican and likewise you’re the least powerful member of the legislature provided you survive the wrath of the voters yourself, Mr. Arrogant majority of 1.
Show a modicum of decency and resign your post. Or at least stop pretending to be a Republican.
I’m sure they would have, before Boss Nass told “hey I got a RINO” and cracked the whip. Then they fell in line that is (or else were just as pleased as he was). Even those alleged conservative Lincoln Davis type are scum. They’re worse in some ways, they aren’t for Marxism, but they are for personal power easier to be a corrupt jackhole in the Feces Party, they’re got a nice decades old system set up.
And as to Phil Roe well it rhymes, he’s got to go, he could get a 90-100 ACU rating (teehee) and he’d still not get my support.

The people in DC are there because we demanded and therefore deserved no better. It is not enough to want "otherwise"; we have to demand better. Unless and until we stop settling for the lesser of two evils every election cycle, this is as good as it will ever be. The cycle is one of diminishing returns. It continues so long as these folks believe that they are above and beyond the Constitution, the Law, and the Will of the People.
Sorry, but did McCain not pull exactly this same move with his gang of 14 in the US Senate?
I think so.
The RINO DEm coalition is unstopable.
BTW I hate the term RINO, because that is the majority nature of elected republicans, and therefore the true nature of the party.

No surprise our media outlets would do a puff piece on a mentally ill meatpuppet pissant like Traitor Kent. No mention that the man he beat in the GOP primary to win, incumbent Jerome Cochran, was a Vietnamese-American. As with many RINO liberals, he probably just couldn’t stand having a Conservative “gook” as his representative. Of course, they’d never mention that...
I hope you get this out of your system - especially that you suspected, in your gut, that something like this would happen.
The problem in Tennessee is a simile of the problem in Washington. When Elmer gets to the Capitol he’s immediately submersed in “one goes along to get along, constituents come second”. In DC the coercion comes from high-ranking incumbants who’ve long parted from the concept of a two-party system.
In Tennessee the Democrats have held the reigns for so long that the Republican Party here has never even conceptualized taking over. So used to steppin’ and fetchin’ for Massa Jimmy and his predecessors they were caught unprepared with but a few upstarts willing to break those chains. Hence the fallback to the status quo.
The old horses preferred the bit of their old master than risk roaming when the fence was down. Seems to me that a lot of those nags are due at the glue factory.
As I’ve stated, Conservative Republicans are just too nice people, many of them don’t know how to play hardball and to be ruthless in their pursuit of certain goals. We’ve only done so infrequently, and then immediately, rather than relentlessly pressing on, they rest on their laurels. It’s how we watched a slow loss of Congress and failure to make any truly dramatic headway.
Of course, from a non-political standpoint, I realized this is how many successful people get what they want. I applied it once in my life and got the best thing that ever happened to me, but after scoring the “win”, I failed to carry on just as aggressively with moving to the next levels, and I ultimately lost it all... you just can’t ever complacent or you’re crippled, sometimes permanently. :-\
