Must’ve just been sloppy, kinda like Sandy Berger.
Geithner previously had agreed to similar adjustments to his self-employment tax for tax years 2003 and 2004 after his returns were examined by the IRS. The IRS waived penalties for those years. The remaining adjustments on the amended returns resulted from a variety of issues identified during a review of his returns by Finance Committee staff during the nomination process.

This is more than just a simple mistake...
WTH is wrong with Graham? These people make me sick.
This should completely disqualify this loser. In most situations it would, but we are talking about Dems.
If this was a Republican, the news of the tax evasion would have been the lead story on the news for days and he would have been pressured like Richardson to withdraw in disgrace. Unfortunately, this qualifies him more in the 0bama cabinet.
Rob, you are correct...
I know a bankruptcy is the kiss of death in regards to employment with a brokerage firm. They look at credit ratings, everything. I need to check with my CPA and CFP friends, my guess is those their titles go bye-bye if they did this.
Ions ago I had a co-worker that had his check attached by the IRS for back taxes. If he had worked for another employer in the area ( another coworkers dad told us this the employer was UTC) they would have fired him, it was unacceptable.
On Glenn Beck Today either an Attorney or CPA called and said it is grounds for disbarment as an Attorney and I am not sure about the CPA.
This is the CLINTON's round 3, "It depends what you defintion if is, is" Mentality all over again.....
I think the American people still approve of this choice because most them pay relatively little in federal income taxes anyway. It’s the popular payroll and sales taxes that hit them, and they can’t figure it out.
I’d like to see the penalties on that much in taxes from 2001 - 2004. At the high penalty rate the IRS charges that could be a big number. Our treasury secretary is going to be a tax dodger. Is this the “change” they wanted? Ugh!
I found the best way not to pay taxes is to not have an income. I own multiple businesses, and everything I own is in a business name. Depreciation wipes out some gains on the business that just hold real estate assets, and I can take profits and reinvest in the other companies, instead of putting it in my pocket and not pay taxes. Unlike most Americans i do not have personal debt, I don’t buy anything unless it is cash or financed as a business expense. I have very few personal needs except food and utilities. What should I pay tax on?
Taken me a long time but I have it pretty much wired. I still pay sales tax, gas tax, transportation taxes, excise taxes, and permits and fees up the wazoo. I think I contribute much more to the economy than what I would pay in taxes, so where is my check Mr. Obama?
Instead of being a net generator of power through some solar or wind operation, I am a net generator of jobs. Mr. Obama really should pay me.
It just makes me sick to think of so many people paying taxes, and watching the feds piss it away. Ever look at some of these entitled narcissists that work for the government? Americans pay them to be so bad. I do pay Social Security/Medicare for many people and that really makes me hot. Mr. Madoff must have been the crafter of the Social Security Plan. What a joke.

sounds to me that Geithner filed the returns, listed the IMF pay as income and omitted a self-employment tax return, hoping that the auditors would miss before the three-year audit deadline passed. They caught him for 2003 and 2004, but not for the preceding years
Wonder if we can just say we forgot? Are we living in a Sitcom?
Pray for W, America and Our Troops
I'm already tired of the new administration (and their media pets) and they haven't even officially taken over yet.
Didn’t Biden say in the debates that paying taxes was “American” and to not want to pay taxes - un-American?
Ah, another perfect pick by Obamouth.
