Republican governors, battling climate change in their states and fed up with the GOPs inability to organize in Washington, are urging their congressional colleagues to start the new Congress with unprecedented dedication to addressing global warming.
Its been enormously frustrating, said Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, a Republican who recently signed up his state for the Western Climate Initiative, a bloc of states committed to reducing greenhouse gases 15 percent below 2005 levels by 2020.
We would not need the Western Climate Initiative if it were not for the foot-dragging nature of Congress, Huntsman said. If Republicans had identified this problem earlier and tackled it aggressively, we would all be working together.

Both Democrats and Republicans say theyre hopeful that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who pushed fairly aggressive reduction standards during his unsuccessful presidential campaign, will want to play a unifying role between the two parties.
But McCain will bring his own agenda to the table one that could complicate the fight. Hes been a major proponent of nuclear power, which comes with a formidable price tag, as much as $6 billion per new nuclear plant, according to some estimates.

“If Republicans had identified this problem earlier...”
You mean before we entered a cooling period?
Somebody might want to tell those ****ing idiots to go outside and see whether they can detect any “global warming(TM)”.
Is T-Paw there with Willy Steger and his sled dogs?
Just came in. We’ve crawled up to 9 degrees and it’s snowing.
Newt Gingrich has gone over to the dark side.
Okay, you are going to have to get even tougher on this old fool.
Oh why won’t he just disappear?
Silly RINOs, they’re a day late and a dollar short. The new thing is the coming ice age. Duh. Don’t they watch Lou Dobbs?
For the love of anything that will keep me sane, I never want to hear from John McCain again.
I’m so sick of Republicans who are “useful idiots” in the movement to restrict our freedom. This global warming hoax is a joke and that Republicans can’t see that makes me nuts.

Translation: GIVE US MORE MONEY YOU STUPID COMMONER-SERFS!!!
Global warming is a hoax.
How does one “battle” climate change anyway?
Lazarus Long nailed it many years ago.
At least there is one glimmer of hope in this absurd article:
While a number of Republicans are moving to engage in the climate change fight, the GOP must still grapple with a few, including Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), who challenge the basic premise of man-made warming.
Keep up the grappling, Senator Inhofe!
And this is EXACTLY where the bail out money should go. To Nuke plants. Create jobs AND energy. it is too simple Congress will never understand.
Good to see that some one besides me has noticed this too!
They're more interested in having power and tax dollars, than they are in promoting the principles of this once great nation. They're all sell outs for power, and they are doing nothing to bring sanity and reason back into politics.
Ditto! Here in Michigan it is a balmy 2.
The “Tax Us More” club seems to be growing, doesn’t it?
My state (Maryalnd) is already in a “regional initiative”
http://www.rggi.org/home
which is just another untouchable unaccountable feel-good, sound good bureacracy of liberals that lives to levy “carbon taxes” (aka emission credits) which regional utility companies now have to purchase at auction for the privilege of providing us with electricity.
Where is the emission credit auction money going?
Well, a teeny tiny bit is going to a fund for poor so they won’t freeze to death because they can’t pay their carbon credit tax inflated utility bills.
The rest of it is going for a hiring spree to support the NYC HQ and expanding staff of “directors” needed by the regional initiative- to collect even more money!!!
Welcome to “green jobs” to be created by the hundreds of thousands at the federal level by zerO
OH PLEASE, I just shoveled 6 inches of snow in 7 degree temps! Global Warming my butt!
