Washington, DC, Jan. 13, 2009 (CNA) -- In his first lengthy article explaining his position after the election of President Barack Obama, Pepperdine University Professor Douglas Kmiec is accusing “right wing Catholic bloggers" of distorting his position, attacking him personally, and potentially poisoning the relationship between the Holy See and the future administration of President Barack Obama.

Going back to his criticism of Catholic bloggers, Kmiec writes that “the scurrilous remarks of conservative bloggers missed the point, which was that I and millions of others who voted for Obama did so not despite our Catholic faith but because of it.”

Say what? I hope for Kmiec's sake, he doesn't try that reasoning when he faces his Maker. And, as long as clowns like Kmiec continue to support, vote for & elect pro-abortionists; the unborn will continue to be murdered and this country will continue to decline in immorality!

Nevertheless, Professor Kmiec says he takes solace in the fact that “blogs have not closed the mind of the new president and, like Lincoln, he bears ‘malice toward none’ and manifests ‘charity for all.’”

Clearly a trueBeliever.

I don't know this guy from Adam, but I can surely see that he's been stung and is definitely in "victim" mode.

Unfortunately, that doesn't change the reality that we have a president who thinks pregnancy is "punishment," when it's the result of recreational intercourse; and an administration that concurs. People like Prof. Kmeic helped make that happen.

"charity for all" except the unborn...and this clown is a "professor" at Pepperdine...with clowns like this teaching, it's no wonder we have an entire population of "educated fools!"

I read about this one philosopher who said he could stand before God and tell Him why he didn't believe in him. Like Hey! You're standing in front of Him and you're saying THAT???

Same type of guy here .... these people are scary and they're supporting someone who has the keys to the nukes and is patently the head of the most powerful nation in the world.

This "religious leader" thinks that taking people's money by force for "the greater good" is equivalent to an act of charity. What it really constitutes is an act of covetousness and theft designed to make himself feel better.

I pray that someday, soon, these geniuses will actually read the Bible for what it says, and not continue spouting what they are told it implies.

The bishops, having stated clearly their opposition to FOCA -- and rightly so -- should not allow the right wing to obscure what Obama shares with the church: concern for the poor; support for the average family; a commitment to ending an unjust war; and respect for our environment.”

Oh, I get it. The bishops disagree with Hussein on abortion, but they agree perhaps with four other broad goals. Hussein wins 4-1, the bishops should support him. Not.

I do not, for the life of me,
understand how one can stand in a
position of trust within the Catholic Church
and be in direct disobedience from:

1: Longstanding Catholic Tradition
2: Direct, unequivocal leadership of the Pope, and
3: Clear Biblical teaching

And STILL call themselves Catholic
Whatever they are, it is not Catholic

And this coming from one raised in a long Protestant tradition...

Ya know, everything we’re about to go through was pretty much foreordained the day the country accepted abortion on demand. There wasn’t any going back after that, we were officially a godless, heathen, pagan nation, like those God ordered the Israelites to destroy, due to our sexual immoralities and infanticide and worship in the high places.

America’s chickens, are comin’ home, to roooooost-ah!

They can be catholic, just not Roman Catholic. And, he can call himself whatever he wants, but he excommunicates himself, ipso facto by his public statemenets.

It was the part about the faithful falling away over there in The Revelation of St. John ~ guess he thought he had a duty to do that eh?!

And those were all in a single paragraph! Such highly concentrated rhetorical venom is not calculated to invite discussion.”

And there is something that else that doesn't invite discussion. Abortion not only doesn't "invite" discussion. It kills discussion--with a million would be American souls every year.

Kmiec is a an intellectual whore.

I understand that statement
Whatever I've learned of being Catholic
Has been gleaned from 15+ years of being
a Godfather to a Catholic boy.

It's been an honor, and quite an education

I can only be grateful my tuition dollars are not going to Pepperdine. There is no possible way a Catholic could defend Obama. Obama supports murdering innocents.

Wonder what the left wing “Catholics” had to say about Hitler and how many of them voted for Hitler. The similarity is uncanny. One promoted the murder of millions of innocent people; the other promotes the murder of millions of innocent people. If you support a murderer, then you cannot say you are pro-life.

... potentially poisoning the relationship between the Holy See and the future administration of President Barack Obama ...

I would assume that Obama has already done that through his un-Christian stances:

Barack Obama on Abortion
Undecided on whether life begins at conception. (Apr 2008)
Rated 100% by NARAL on pro-choice votes in 2005, 2006 & 2007. (Jan 2008)
Voted against banning partial birth abortion. (Oct 2007)
Trust women to make own decisions on partial-birth abortion. (Apr 2007)
Extend presumption of good faith to abortion protesters. (Oct 2006)
Constitution is a living document; no strict constructionism. (Oct 2006)
Moral accusations from pro-lifers are counterproductive. (Oct 2004)
Pass the Stem Cell Research Bill. (Jun 2004)
Protect a woman’s right to choose. (May 2004)
Opposed born-alive treatment law because it was already law. (Oct 2008)
Supports Roe v. Wade. (Jul 1998)
Voted NO on defining unborn child as eligible for SCHIP. (Mar 2008)
Voted NO on prohibiting minors crossing state lines for abortion. (Mar 2008)
Voted YES on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines. (Apr 2007)
Voted NO on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions. (Jul 2006)
Rated 0% by the NRLC, indicating a pro-choice stance. (Dec 2006)

Obama doesn't need help to poison the relationship between himself and any moral person.

It is scary the false hope people have in this small minded man. Nothing ever in his life shows evidence that he offers anything different than any other run of the mill liberal politician. Yet somehow people see this unique gift never seen before in mortal man.

Isaiah 5:20

Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Proverbs 17:15

He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

Doesnt look like safe ground to tread to me....

Just sayin’

*grin*
