So, what are your plans for the coming debacle?
Vanity | January 18, 2009 | WCF

This thread (if it survives the moderators) is meant to be an end of the Republic commemorative. Bracketed by end of the Julian calendar and the Chinese New year, I thought a repository of comments marking the rise of a new leftist messiah to be sardonic and fitting.

Before any FReepers hit the ABUSE button, please look around youself . . . with kooky vanities about just-the-right-puppy-breeds and the non-stop religious scripts and debates abounding on NEWS/ACTIVISM, I thought a simple question about what conservatives were personally considering doing during the promise of a new age of fascism might be worthwhile.
So, given that we're all of a conservative mindset and that (as adults) we all recognize what the next four years (or decade and beyond) might herald, I ask: What are your plans? Where do you plan to go and what do you plan to do in years of the coming darkness?

Here’s how we are preparing: Hubby and I have just finished passing a conceal and carry class. I have also been canning meat items as I have found them on sale. i will be canning beans next. (pinto, etc.) I’m planning a larger garden this year (if I can keep the deer away; they ate my fall tomato plants) and we are working with our grown kids to help them get on a better financial footing.

Because any solution must be spiritual, we are praying daily that God will intervene and grant mercy to our country. We are claiming the promise that: “If MY PEOPLE, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and heal their land.” We are trying to apply those principles in our lives and teach others about them through our Bible classes. We are remaining confident that God will protect His children in the midst of any crisis-—just as He has promised.

No political TV about O, although we listen to Rush. Several months ago, we cancelled our newspaper subscription and just get our news via net. We are praying with anticipation that God will give us conservative, godly leadership we can support. I also am thankful to God for websites such as FR where people of like mind can gather. I believe that God must have been preparing us all for “such a time as this.”

The center of the Roman Empire was in Turkey until it ceased to be an empire. The ten nation consortium may have nothing to do with Europe at all. More likely muslim.

I’ll move to any state that secedes and vows to uphold the US Constitution, word for word. I highly doubt Wisconsin will secede. Texas, Alaska, Oklahoma, any state that upholds the current US constitution.

Here’s an interesting fact. The Revolution occurred because people were ticked off they paid the government taxes until January 15th in wages. I’ll see if I can find the source. That turbo tax commercial, the one with the founding fathers coming out of dollar bills, is offensive.

I'm thinking of taking Joe Biden's advice and "girding my loins".

Actually, I saw this coming years ago and moved a big portion of my family business offshore. I picked a country that I thought was 180 degrees politically out of phase with the US.

However, my boys (now young men) are here, so I doubt I'll exercise that option.

My recommendation to anyone is to start your own business as a corporation. The corporation is the mechanism that those in power have always used to dodge the mob, and anyone can put it to work for themselves.

Our plan exactly as well. And I’ve stocked up on everything I think we’ll need for awhile, I’m not buying one penny more of anything not absolutely essential, to avoid paying sales tax.

I’m also sending back charity request junk mail with a polite “sorry, no, why don’t you ask Obama for more money? Due to the high tax rate that is expected to go higher under his administration, I’m fresh out” note.

We’re dropping out of the system as much as humanly possible without actually quitting our jobs. And if either of us get laid off, we don’t plan on looking for awhile. We have no debt and can skate for awhile.

I’m also giving out copies of Atlas Shrugged to everyone I know who might read it. Even if they don’t agree with it, it will get them thinking.

Forgot to add: I suggest inserting yourself slowly into Democratic sites like DU, and once Obama doesn’t make money fall out of the air start complaining vociferously about it there. Get them riled up so they turn on him. We can make their movement collapse from within, if we work at it.

Start thinking like this, there’s a lot we can do.

I plan to have a garden. I need to plan on the means to protect it from the host of people who will try to steal from it when their welfare checks quit coming.

All;

i STILL think that FREEPERS in each locality need to connect up and be mutual supports to one another in ways that would function without the net.
