Wisdom of Willow
Glenn Beck, FOX ^ | January 20, 2009 | SolidWood

Posted on 01/20/2009 12:24:11 PM PST by SolidWood

When Glenn Beck at FOX had Governor Palin on show, the following remarks got my attention:

...............

Glenn Beck: Are you concerned about the seeming global effort to discredit capitalism?

Gov. Palin: Yes, I'm scared to death of that. Yes because our nation, our economic system is based on the principles of capitalism. Let me just give you a quick example of the wisdom of a child:

My daughter Willow... She was listening to the news the other day and they were talking about a promise made on the [Obama] campaign trail, that there will be tax cut for 95% of Americans, and my daughter Willow says: "95% of Americans... right on. But what about the other 5%?"

And I said:"Well see the other 5%, they are the ones who have money, they are the ones who create jobs and create wealth and own businesses."

And she says:"Why would they be punished for their success?" And I thought... the wisdom of a child, that is common sense! No, there needs to be tax cuts in this country, there needs to be economic incentives for more economic growth, not looking for government to be the bailout system, to be the bailout venue, but allowing our private sector to grow and progress our families, our businesses, to keep what they earn, so they can reprioritize their dollars that they are earning, that they are producing for their priorities, so we can get our economy rolling.

...............

These remarks were very revealing and brought tears to my eyes. Governor Palin... it's not merely common sense or natural wisdom of a child, the remarks by your daughter Willow showed me that you succeeded in raising her to be a thoughtful and good American citizen.

It tells a lot about the state of the country, where Ivy League "educated" morons believe that collectivism, borderless welfare and government control over the economy are good and working principles, and a majority of this nation falls for it.

I'd be hopeful for our future if there were more Willow Palins among our youth.

There are many, many Willows in my son’s generation. He is 14 and the sheer number of NObama shirts on Election Day was staggering. He and his friends get it, the older teenagers get it, and I have hope in them. Keep in mind that this is in liberal Minnesota.

I tried explaining the merits of capitalism and freedom to my daughter last night (she’s 8). You really have to put it in simple terms that they can relate to, but they can get it.

My 1.5 year old is learning already. She won’t give anything up unless you give her something in return. “Good trade” is the phrase I use most with her.

Remember that joke going around the Internet that had a father explaining to a liberal, college-aged daughter how socialism worked - give some of her grade to her slug of a friend or roommate so that they could all be “equal.” When the daughter protested, the father replied, “Welcome to capitalism” or something similar.

At some point, conservatives have to recognize that economic Fascism is being used to discredit Capitalism.

Joe-the-plumber represented what is left of Capitalism.

Corporate lobbyists, corporate personhood, the Federal Reserve, the bailout all represent Corporatism, or economic Fascism.

So, since Fascism has failed we must embrace Marxism?

“Why would they be punished for their success?”

To liberals and the left employed by non-profits or the government, life is not about success but about making life ‘fair’ie; UTOPIA.........they have no clue because most have NEVER created anything of substance and that includes a life...

God Bless Willow Palin. Obviously this girl has been taught well by her mother. I hope Willow grows up and gets into politics. We need more Willow’s and less Obama’s of the world. Willow sounds like a smart girl, she knows that socialism never wins. I thought Obama was gonna bring change and all will be well in the world, look at the Stock market, what a plunge I am seeing, looks like Wall Street is scared to death of what “change” Obama is gonna bring

Like Sarah, I shudder to think of the damaged goods that will be left to Willow’s generation in just a few short years. Today is the first day of our march from a republic to a socialist democracy.

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and was very much in favor of the redistribution of wealth. She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father.

He responded by asking how she was doing in school. Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn’t even have time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying. Her father listened and then asked, “How is your friend Audrey doing?” She replied, “Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus, college for her is a blast. She’s always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn’t even show up for classes because she’s too hung over.”

Her wise father asked his daughter, “Why don’t you go to the Dean’s office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of the GPA.”

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back, “That wouldn’t be fair. I have worked really hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing towards her degree. She played while I’ve worked my tail off!”

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, “Welcome to the Conservative Movement.”
