OBAMA RE-SWORN IN

At 735 pm, Roberts administred the oath of office again to obama in the map room. Robert gibbs said the wh counsel, greg craig, believes the oath was fine Tuesday, but one word was out of sequence so they did this out of a "an abundance of caution." "We decided it was so much fun..." Obama joked while sitting on a couch. Obama stood and walked over to make small talk with pool as roberts donned his black robe. "Are you ready to take the oath?" Roberts asked. "I am, and we're going to do it very slowly," obama replied. Oath took 25 seconds. After a flawless recitation, roberts smiled and said, "congratulations, again." Obama said, "thank you, sir." Smattering of applause. "All right." Obama said. "The bad news for the pool is there's 12 more balls."

‘Course the media didn’t see it like that...including the once sane conservative Brit Hume. He and Chris Wallace started in immediately about how bad the Chief Justice flubbed it...Chris, I am not surprised about, but, Brit, I think has lost his once good mind over obama.

There was no bible in the house. There was NO BIBLE in the house. Apart from the fact whether a bible was actually required for the oath to finally stick, that statement right there explains what we have to look forward to. And no, I’m not talking from a Christian point of view here.

So how often has this happened in our history?
Perhaps Biden has a communicable condition?

"Try BILLION.

I believe you could probably be correct in that estimate. I read that 38 million Americans watched the inauguration on TV or computers alone. If you add in worldwide viewership, and the people that were present in DC, I think that it would get pretty close to 1 billion. Interestingly, though not a surprise to us FReepers who are Reagan fans, Reagan's inauguration in 1981, still holds the record for number of TV viewers with 41.8 million. Sure miss him.

"Did a chief justice do the oath on the plane with LBJ after the JFK assassination?"

No. The lady administering the oath to Lyndon Johnson in the now famous picture below, is Federal District (Texas) Judge Sarah T. Hughes. As a side note, Johnson's hand rests on a Catholic missal (prayer book) found on a side table in Kennedy's airplane bedroom.

“IMHO this is a huge blow-up over something minor!”

But who reacted here? This great care and concern for exactitude and completeness throws into stark contrast the evasion and legal weaseling by Obama on the BC issue. An issue most of us thought was a non-issue at the start.

I heard there were two other Presidents that had to retake the oath because of screw ups. I think Adams was one of them.

Times Online says:

"Calvin Coolidge and Chester Arthur did it before him, and some believe that Herbert Hoover should have done the same."

From Drudge: “After a flawless recitation that included no Bible...” --

Yes. How about that?
