Hamas officials in Cairo have proposed a year-long truce with Israel and an opening of the crossings into the Gaza Strip, in the latest round of diplomatic meetings to build on a fragile ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas official Ayman Taha told reporters in Cairo on Sunday that his delegation was briefed by the Egyptians on an Israeli proposal for a year-and-a-half long truce with only partial opening of the border, which they rejected.
Instead, Taha says the group made a counter offer of a year with open borders, which they now must discuss with their leadership in Damascus.

Guess Hamas figures it’ll take about a year to get all the long(er) range rockets in place and ready to fire.
“year-long”—Hamas must be low on ammunition and tunnels. Just like before, that’s just enough time to replenish.
If Hamas are offering a truce it can only be because they have something sneaky in mind. They probably need a year to regroup after the bare-assed caning Israel has just given ‘em.
Don’t trust ‘em, Israel! Give them a truce only once you’ve finished whupping them, and even then do it on your terms, not theirs!
When you’ve got your enemy by the throat, don’t stop squeezing until his eyeballs pop out...
Ah truces. The war equivalent of a timeout in basketball meaning one side is getting their a$$es kicked.
A good old fashioned smacking always works. But what happens after a year ?
So at 186,000 miles per second that’s one very long truc- maybe a Chevy with an extra long bed?
Probably a crew cab too. :)
Israel — No! You know more than anyone a “truce” with muslims is only offered when it’s to their benefit.
Go scratch Hamas!
Well at least we know how much damage we did to Hamas.
This tahadiyeh is really just another hudna. Beware.
..as the "Peanut-Brain" ex-president and his "choir" sing:
Yup, only a year's worth so far. Need to keep up until they ask for a 10 year truce, at the least.
Just a short but quiet Hudna to help keep Netanyahu from winning the elections....soon as Netanyahu loses, the Hudna ends.
Yeah. Is that in dog's years or gnat's years?
Is that a pre-broken TRUCE?
HA, that's what the jihad-scum call "resupply"
Alas, the new envoy George Mitchell and the Obama admin. will consider this a perfectly reasonable proposal and will push hard for it.
Here's my proposal: seal up Gaza tighter than a drum and the border crossings will never be re-opened until Hamas disarms and dis members itself completely, invites comprehensive Israeli inspections/destruction of tunnels, bunkers, arms stashes etc.
pre-broken? Nope. Truncated.

They must really be low on ammunition.
Sure, Hamas suffers a bit of a whoopin' so Israel should just open the borders wide and allow all arms smuggling and terrorist transit to occur, so that Hamas can be re-supplied and made ready for next time. That sounds like just the sort of proposal that Mitchell/Obama/Hillary will go for.....
Hamas will then be fully rearmed by Iran with missiles that can hit Tel Aviv. And when the missiles start falling on Tel Aviv, Obama will call for “dialogue” about it.
How do you spell Bullsh^t in Arabic?
A counter offer of a return to the previous status quo — which means Israel’s answer will be “no”. And the stupid recent statement from one of the 3000 corrupt princes of Saudi Arabia — that the phony offer of peace with and full recognition of Israel made in 2002 won’t be on the table forever — will get an unofficial “so what?” :’)
H-A-M-A-S... (Couldn't resist...)
Please Israel, give us a years truce while we arm up,
and we promise to wait at least a week before we start firing area missiles at your civilian population....
