SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35, Orlando) -- FOX 35 is investigating reports of an inmate riot at a federal prison in Sumter County.
Early reports indicate that there are mass casualties involving gun shot wounds at the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex, which is located approximately 50 miles northwest of Orlando and 35 miles south of Ocala.
FOX 35 has a crew headed to the scene for more information and we will bring you more updates as they are confirmed.
Coleman Federal Correctional Complex is located just south of the central Florida town of Coleman, off of Highway 301. The complex consists of four facilities built to accommodate low to high security risk inmates.
The girls (sarc)get very jealous and the gangs pimp them out for big bucks
at Kansas state, they had a year in the hole rule for hard core but they had to let them out after the year. One guy gene autry (not the actor), killed 5 guys to stay locked up, one every year till the final one selected slit his throat first, that was back in the 70’s though when KSP was the most dangerous place to be locked up in the US. lots of action packed days.
They stomped the guy for forty-five minutes....can we send these guys to Club Gitmo?
I didn’t know that.
I sent a FReepmail to George, I dont think he has much to worry about.
Thank you for the kind words and endorsement. :)
I’ll bet he never forgets that experience. Never in a thousand years. Glad he wasn’t hurt, just scared almost to death.
Always a riot at a men’s prison.
For once I would like to see a riot at a women’s prison. All the lingerie clad prisoners wrestling with each other and the women guards in the mud of the prison yard. In their anger ripping each others clothes off. If only life was like the movies.
Thanks Brytlea.
I agree with most of your post, but I’m still not convinced two per cell is the resolution to the problems. If the guy you’re with is reasoned, it could help. If he isn’t, you could be in for one hell of a bad ride. I still maintain being alone is probably the best idea, but who’s to say.
LOL
Any communication between inmates is tantamount to allowing criminals to network. They are all felons or they wouldn’t be there. So what do they talk about? They talk about how to commit crimes. They talk about organizing and manipulating other inmates. They talk about running gangs on the outside. They network for carrying on crimes on the outside.
Seems to me there is a public safety issue with allowing them to communicate. Give them something productive to do with their time, but other than that let them spend their time in peace.
I agree with most of your comments. Sorry not to have mentioned that.
I like that proposal, but with some form of communication available while in ‘solitary’. A person would probably go nuts in solitary confinement for lengthy periods of time.
I believe folks generally think of a small dark hole in the ground when they think of solitary. If the room is average sized, well lit, there is a television station on, and a few stations on a radio available, plus reading materials, writing materials, and things to keep a prisoner occupied, I’m not convinced it’s a serious psychological problem when a prisoner is alone.
It may be a good idea for guards to make the rounds to talk to these prisoners during the day.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see a psychiatric organization slam my perception, but I am still not convinced they would be right.
I appreciate your opposing opinion. You may be right.
It probably depends on the person. Some people would be just fine with tv/radio/books, others would go stir-crazy. Useful work that actually pays a wage minus a room and board fee is probably the best solution IMHO.
I do think that would be a good addition to what I have already mentioned.
“And why are inmates allowed to be in gangs?”
Ever worked at a prison? They are gang members before they come in.
45 minutes is probably a MSM stretch, they get tired too. but you dont know the other side of the beating story revenge, retribution, fun, payback, disrespect etc.
