The idea. I am under the impression that folks in Michigan are planning a one million gunowner march for 2010. Washington DC.

I forgot to mention above. If the Congress/BHO pass that “Fairness Doctrine” or whatever they are calling it now, then we need to do a million gun march right then. :(

If it happens, I will find a way to go. This is my personal Hot Button Issue.

I can assure you, that many gun-owners participants would cringe at being associated with this kind of rhetoric, if they attended. FWIW.

I used to feel that way too, when it came to The Nuge. But he has a true passion for the 2nd Amendment and he is a true patriot. I imagine folks said much the same thing about the Founding Fathers and the group known as the Sons of Liberty. Remember those are the guys who liked to dump tea into harbors. I'm sick and tired of tippy toeing around the sheep like being a sheepdog is something to be ashamed of.

If the logistics and the timing are worked out properly, America’s Independent Party, CAN-DO-USA, and the Minuteman Second Amendment Committee will support this march in any way we can.

Love the idea in general of a Gun Owner March.

Random Thoughts ......

Agree, don’t think we should use the moniker “Million ___ March” as it’s been over used and even tainted.

Think it should be Nation wide, if you can get to DC great but if not, then most of us could atleast get to our State Capitols.

And I think we should carry TOY GUNS, not real ones.
The symboligy would be the same, but various risks would be reduced.

Just thought I’d throw those ideas out ....

I think this a march would be more effective if we all march at each state’s capital. Travel to D.C. would be prohibitive for tens of thousands of gun owners. A state march would be the first step. The news would have to cover it and we would not miss so many days from work. If that doesn’t work, then plan the march on D.C.

Just my thoughts.

I’ll be there, but I think we all ought to bring a rifle with a symbolic single round in the barrel.

I just copied it from another's post!

However, you can also borrow it in the same manner from your word processer, under "special characters", or "symbols".

A lot of folks still seem to think gun owners are all macho guys! I'm hear to say that if this thing comes about, Second Amendment Sisters will be there in force!

“Any such march would have to be a march of unarmed gun owners. We'd have to leave the hardware at home because the fascists would use any excuse to paint it as a rebellion.”

You have a problem with that? I don't. I don't care what other people want to believe-that is their problem. What good is sending a message if you at the same time telegraph or manifest fear?

Would you please tell us what the idea was? Apparently Comment #3 was removed by the Moderator.

There was a problem with one of the embedded links and I asked them to help (there's no ability to edit posts here). I reposted it in 28 after fixing the link.

> If we organize a Hundred Thousand Gun Owner March and get 250,000, they won’t trash our numbers

Unfortunately, they won't report it either. Right-to-Life has been sending tens of thousands (or more) to DC every January for 30 years, and most newspapers and TV won't even report it; if they do report it, they under-report the numbers. (Of course, if two dozen "pro-choicers" show up on the steps of the Supreme Court, well, that's front-page news....)

No, the only way for this to make an impact is for FAR more than one million to show up.

Bookmarking to see how this develops. I’m in. I’ve never participated in a protest before, but there’s a first time and reason for everything. This one is important enough.

Why do we have to wait a full year?

I thought that’s what the internet is for (Paul Revere and Samuel Adams would be green with envy).

Just how long does it take to roust up a million gun owners (yes, there are logistical issues)?
