Eric, I am not familiar with that painting, so I’ll give a generic response.
In those days, our nation was responding to a situation where a foreign leader was making the rules we had to live under.
Today we do have the power to replace people, voting in a better person if we do not agree with someone’s policies.
I know you and I get extremely frustrated at times, but it is up to us to devise ways to turn the tide. That’s our mandate. Violence isn’t.
If you can take up arms, the left can take up arms. We don’t want to go down that route.
Marvelous.
There's a stimulus to demand for oil.
“This country is founded upon the struggle of ideas. Make your best argument and gather like-minded people who will vote in your favor. Thats how we win.”
Yep, but that didn’t get it done for our Founders and it is possible that someday we will face the same challenge. Armed Revolution does not only belong to the despots and communists. It is our lineage.
We are not there yet, but a path is being cleared to take us in that direction...how far that path is cleared is only theoretical now.
Before attempting to execute a plan on the scale you stated, it might be wise to practice herding a few cats down the street. You will find immense satisfaction in accomplishing the later. The former will just drive you nuts.
“In those days, our nation was responding to a situation where a foreign leader was making the rules we had to live under.”
Wrong.
In those days, our nation was composed of British citizens responding to their own tyrannical government, not a foreign leader (yet). The painting portrays the Sons Of Liberty applying tar and feathers and then pouring hot tea into the British crown’s appointed tax collector in Boston.
It may be time to brush up on your American history.
“I donÂt think his being attacked would be good for anyone.”
Will you be able to say that in three years?
“This country was founded on blood, determination and fire. Wanting to pretend that our ancestors did not have to kill thousands of people to make it happen is wishful thinking at its worst.”
Are you suggesting that that is the direction FR and its posters should head? That appears to be where some here want this site to go. I suggest that taking concrete steps in that direction will have serious and deserved consequences at a minimum for this site and the individuals involved.
or Jesse Jackson’s buses?
LOL, I know what you mean.
Yes, you are right. The Colonists were British subjects. The fact still remain they had no representation. For all intents, they were disenfranchised.
Today we can effect change by political means. My argument stands.
Yep, someone was paying the way for those folks. When we go, we pay our own way.
By july 23 it will be all over
Bert, could you elaborate a bit. I’m not catching your meaning.
FYI
Today we can effect change by political means. My argument stands.
Yea, so far it’s working really well and I’m sure that 4 BILLION for ACORN won’t help them buy the next election to finish what they start this time.
Thank you, and one does. ;-)
It is forbidden to speak of such matters
I think you are right, even if for no other reason than his skin color. Imagine the riots if something happened and it were painted by the media as a race issue. But aside from that it would spell trouble for all leaders in the future. There's so much division between the parties now. No Republican president would be safe in the future either.
