Starve The Beast (A FR Actvism Thread to Combat the Rape of the American Taxpayer)
my derranged cerebrum | Feb. 15th 2009 | Mad Dawgg

This Thread is to bring together Freepers to institute a legal way to Starve the US government of our Tax Dollars. Please add any and all suggestions to this thread for legal ways to STARVE THE BEAST!

Spread the Word to your Non-Freeper Friends. Show people how to keep more of their hard earned money and get more back from Uncle Obama.

OK so here goes:

So you feel like its all hopeless. You feel the inmates are in charge of the asylum.

Yeah its bad BUT there is something we can all do. AND it benefits yourself WHILE putting it to the looters in Washington.

First understand that the engine that drives Liberalism/ Socialism is taxpayer money. Without it they can't do all the crap they wish to.

So the first thing to do is strangle the dollars going to Washington on a weekly basis.

How you ask? Its simple really. Contact your employer and change your withholding on your W-2 Forms. Claim more dependents. This takes less out of your paycheck to send to Washington. (I suggest you claim one or two more than you actually have.)

Take that extra money per pay period and put it in a local bank in a Savings or Money Market account.

If at Tax Time you then owe some back you have it in your savings and you have made money on it rather than giving Uncle Sam a tax free loan on your money.

The next thing you can do is turn a hobby or interest into a legal side business and use it for more tax deductions. (Contact your accountant on the particulars on how to legally do such)

One of the benefits of turning a hobby into a side business is you can take a holiday vacation and legally turn most of it into a tax deduction.

I think it has to do with what you actually pay regarding taxes....not what’s on your W-2 regarding dependents. You end up paying what you honestly owe. I know one tax prep guy who has recommended it.

Dear Admin Mod. Could you amend my thread and change: (I suggest you claim one or two more than you actually have.)

to:(Claim as many dependents as you are legally allowed).

Thank you very much.

Yeah. Smokers could really stick it to them. Yall were selectively taxed. When they have to go after something else...raising gas tax, soda tax etc. more people will pay attention.

And don’t get a Roth IRA, where you pay taxes going in, even if your tax bracket is low.

Above all, don’t buy government debt. If you own any debt already, sell it. This will hinder the government’s future ability to fund their spending with borrowing.

Starve the US government of our Tax Dollars

The government already is starved of revenue - we are currently running a $1.2T deficit for this year. And we are about to spend $800B that we don't have. So why do you think reducing tax revenue will make politicians act differently than they do now?????

If you can still afford a vacation, be sure to go to a Red state.

I have canceled a vacation to Boston and Maine. I threatened the ditzy senators, now I've followed through.

My apologies to freepers from Maine, but it was my only leverage.

I have to write down everything I eat (weight watchers) It really helps me look at what I've consumed and where to cut back. It works.

I suggest everyone start a financial journal. Just get a large spiral. Write down everything you spend each day, including how much tax you paid. Include mileage and staple the receipts. Then look at it every evening and think about where you can cut back or alternatives to reduce taxes. JAT

Because they are secure in the notion most of the Tax Paying Public will continue to pay more than they owe.

If the Deficit continues up it will goad more people into realizing Obama is not the answer to our problems but the cause, and he will be a one term President! AND even if it doesn't at least Tapayers will keep more of their money.

We all have to be responsible for our own health. I have kids that I wish would quit but I wasn’t posting to smokers to stop. That is an individual choice. I was just recomending that you look at alternative ways to avoid this tax since Schips (ms?) is going to be paid for by yall.

Correct, but if you are handy with math and careful, you can work it to just under pennies owed before penalties. Additionally, you can do the same thing with extensions. The point is to try - to absolutely minimize the regular tribute to tyranny. Another is to apply for every benefit, grant, etc. whether you know you don’t qualify or not. Every minute a government automaton spends denying your application is a minute lost to a habitual user’s application.
