From the U.S. Postal Service to the Executive Office of the President, thousands of federal workers have not paid their 2007 federal income taxes.

The Internal Revenue Service is trying to collect billions of dollars in unpaid taxes from nearly half a million federal employees. According to IRS records, 171,549 current federal workers did not voluntarily pay their federal income taxes in 2007. The same is true for 37,752 active duty military and nearly 200,000 retired civilian and military personnel.

The 37,752 active duty military are probably deployed to an active war zone. Or are in the window of their extension.

It is not a violation of the ADA to ask an applicant if he is capable of doing the job he is applying for.

The ADA states the employer gets to choose the accomotation for a disability, not the employee. I hope your employer hires a more effective HR manager.

They do just like practically everyone else. They didn’t file their tax returns, which means they might/probably owe more...or be eligible for a refund.

Define "Voluntary".

All 'voluntary' means is that you get to fill out the forms and calculate what you owe by yourself instead of the IRS assessing the tax and seizing your assets.

That’s bull crap — Had a girl tell me the same thing once —looked at her employment application & she didn’t disclose conditions that would impede her from doing the job she was hired for. I went to her desk (where she was farting in her sleep) kicked her trash can across the room to wake her up & fired her ass. She had the balls to list me as a reference.

Claiming more dependents....

The names and ssn must be on the W2, but NOT on the W4. You can claim as many exemptions as you choose to in order to make your taxes come out closer so you don’t get a big refund at the end. For example, there are physicians who make big bucks, and own farms that lose money. They adjust the automatic deductions.

“The IRS is the only federal agency where an employee can be fired for not paying his taxes.”

Will this include Secretary of the Treasury Geithner?

The laws in America do not apply to Democrats, anyone in power, or illegal aliens.

You know it. They know you know it ... and laugh, raising your taxes.

From the U.S. Postal Service to the Executive Office of the President,

Mr. Obama didn't pay his taxes?

Pay up, folks, before the peasants march on Washington and remove you from your cushy jobs.

The peasants should march anyway.

Boy if you only knew how true this was. I was once in a federal office to take depositions (of fed. employees there) and there were people SLEEPING at their cubicles, I am not kidding, heads down on the desk next to the empty potato chip bag. I was actually concerned about one worker, and at my prompting, her supervisor went over to make sure she wasn’t dead!

True story: Mr RB took a HVAC programming class in Minnesota one year. There was a government tech there from the Smithsonian taking the class at taxpayer's expense. He put his head down and slept through the entire class ( 8hr/day, 5 days). No lie !

“Taxes for thee but not for me” - this is the their motto. The more I watch the news, the more I wonder when this administration will crumble under the weight of its own arrogance.

“Why are their wages not being garnished as would those in the private sector?”

They are. Once the IRS catches up with them. These would have been due April 2008. The wheels of government turn slowly. Their paychecks WILL be garnished for non-payment of taxes (provided they have not resigned).

The reason Government Printing Office and Postal Service are among the highest is that they are by and large blue collar workers and will just get employment elsewhere.

That doesn't surprise me in the least. Try talking to someone at the IRS about a tax issue. They have no clue! It would be funny if it wasn't your life they have in their hands (and could ruin in a click of the mouse).

The IRS is the only federal agency where an employee can be fired for not paying his taxes.

Yet, an admitted tax cheat is in charge of it..
